In my psychology class, we're covering sleep and dreaming. I was thinking about the false twitching technique used by those in this community to fool ones body into thinking its asleep. Well basically, can REM be used to do the same? Essentially, all it is is the lateral change in direction of one's eyes.

Unless anyone can blatantly say why this idea is ridiculously off, I would like to recruit testers, as it's more efficient for those of greater lucid experience and greater dream recall (3+ dreams a night) as opposed to someone who is unexperienced at inducing lucid dreaming.

Information needed to determine the effectiveness of induced REM would include the speed of eye movement, time spent utilizing the technique, level of relaxation, and any other information deemed vital to the experiment. Needless to say, to preserve the purity of the experiment, no other techniques should be used except for possibly false twitching.

I would greatly appreciate any and all lucid dreamers participation, as if only one person volunteered, that's still twice the opportunity for experimentation that I would be able to provide on my own.

Thanks
