      1. Why is it necessary to sleep for 5-6 hours then stay awake for 1 hour before attempting Wild?

      2. Can you have a Wild without doing the above mentioned?

      You need to wake up from your REM sleep. This ensures that you are 1. tired enough to be able to fall asleep conscious, and 2. certain to fall straight back into REM sleep when attempting WILD.

      Theoretically, yes, but generally what happens is that you either can't get to sleep because you are concentrating too hard, or end up falling asleep by accident. Its a very fine line to tread. That's why people often drink caffeine when attempting a WILD, its a way to control the balance to get the level of awakeness just right.
