I wanted to experiment with the "alarm clock" method.

I set my alarm to 5AM, and had it set to go off every 15 minutes for the next 2 hours.

I placed my cell phone right next to my bed so I wouldn't have to get up. The first time it went off I shut it off immediately and fell asleep almost immediatly after. The second time it went off, I actually felt the onset of SP right before I fell asleep. The third time, I shut it off, and the moment I was back in my sleeping position, I could feel the onset of SP immediatly, and a few seconds later I was in SP with no effort at all almost. I had trouble inducing a lucid, so I just decided to relax (was actually a very quiet SP without vibes and noises), and ended up falling asleep. The fourth time the alarm went off, I felt horrible, like someone had taken a hammer and hit me in the head. So I shut the phone off. Soon as I closed my eyes, the onset of SP started again. This time however there were very powerful vibes, and I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. I tried to visualize a rollercoaster while this was happening but no luck. So I just "roll out" and began my lucid in my room.

The only downside was, when I had to wake up, I felt horrible, like I had gotten no sleep at all that night. The first 5 minutes of getting up was hell, but after that I was fine. It was worth it overall.

I recommend this to people who want to experience what SP is like, because it doesn't require you to attempt to "keep your mind awake while your body falls asleep". Eventually your body falls asleep so quickly you'll still be awake before you realize what hit you. Just don't do if you really need a good night's sleep.

My favorite technique of causing SP to happen was to listen to the sound of the silence. However, I haven't tried to WILD in an incredibly long time...

Hey, I'm going to try this tomorrow and post my results! Wish me luck!

I'm going to set my phone on vibrate, so that it is easy to turn back off.

EDIT: I mean this night, not tomorrow night.

Well, when it is in the afternoon, you are likely to NOT be sleepy enough to be bothered by waking up every 15 minutes.

Try to also find what "snooze" works best for you.

Like, if you fall asleep within 5 minutes, try 5 minute intervals. When you actually induce it, the next time it goes off, turn if off completely, and as long as you don't move around and still feel horrible, you should be able to induce it again, have a lucid, and not have any alarms interrut you

And I doubt it'll work in the afternoon. In the morning you are tired enough to fall asleep within minutes... you're also in REM sleep, so SP occurs more quickly.

I tried this just now (no alarm clock, my one screams so loud that you completely spring out of bed, fully awake with your heart racing and your hand on the alarm, gasping for breath.) My eyes felt rather irritated throughout the whole process, which they usually do..

First time;- It took me about 12 minutes to get to sleep, I heard a lot of noise, ie: chimes.. and a peculiar crackling noise in my head, (as if I had a pair of jumper-cables attacked to my brain.) a few moments after, upon entering the sp state, my chest and entire lower-body just.. shook... bounced up, like someone hit me in the back with a defibrillator. (I was sleeping face-down.)

It was really wierd, the dream started out with me eating spaghetti bolognese. Eventually Being chased by some Italian mafia, and last thing I remember was being on a train.. before waking up.
      -
Second time;- took about 15-20 minutes to lapse off, and lasted well over an hour Everything was vividly-clear, though I have no recollection of what happened whatsoever. except far that I woke up with a numb left-arm. lol.

Definately have to pick a good time to do this.

Edit: The top of my head feels really bruised..

Tried it, it failed. Couldn't fall asleep in time. Did not feel sleepy for some reason. Even worse, my alarm rings even when the phone is off, so I would have to consciously turn all of the alarms off, risking waking me up even more.

On the bright side, I had a short LD some time after this ordeal.

The alarm clock isn't essential, It's only there to transfer you from the sleeping state to the sp state.
The body naturally wakes up, so just try it on a weekend or something where you don't have to go out of your way to get up early. even better, have a 3'oclock night.
