I've been trying very often to WILD, mostly in the afternoon. (In a thread I've posted before, I've said that I often try to WILD in the afternoon). The thing is, I think i'm confused about the right way to do it. Counting didn't work. Breathing, I often lose focus on my breathing and end up falling asleep. What is a good way that many people have had success with? How do you do WILD, and how long did it take you to finally get your first? I can't even get to SP, but I do get some sort of numbness (which I think is just imagined).

I used to have an easier time WILDing after I'd eaten. Back when I had the time to, I'd take a short nap after dinner and would WILD almost effortlessly.

I watch my HI as I breath evenly. Don't wait for sleep paralysis to happen. Not everyone will get it. I don't get it anymore. I lie in bed watching my HI and then next thing I know I'm 'waking up' in my bed, totally aware that I'm dreaming.

Othertimes I watch my HI until it forms into a dream and sort of sucks me into it. It took me a while, maybe a couple of months of practicing watching my HI before I had my first HIT type WILD.

Does HI have to be clear images or is it just those random green blotches I begin to see?

Green blobs, light stripes and spots..etc are the beginning stage of Hypnagogia. I haven't WILDed yet but I HAVE managed one night to staye aware very long into the process of falling asleep and I witnissed how the, innitially simple, Hypnagogia develops into more and more sophisticated and immersive Imagery. Eventually this lead to a sort of visionairy state where, from the sophisticated but random Hypnagogia, some FREAKISHLY realistic Images and Sounds arose.

Hypnagogia always starts very simple. You just have to stay aware longer to experience the more profound, later stages of it. And do it in the morning when you immediately fall back into the REM dreamstate and the REM dreaming sleep lasts much longer.

Well, I just had a real weird experience. I kept getting up to check the time by my bed before I fell asleep, and I don't think it was a successful WILD, but I think I dreamed that I continued to get up and check the time. I have spotty memory of sitting on my bed (in my dream), but some sort of classroom is in my room, and people are there in desks, writing. I didn't get lucid.

I think I failed at WILDing, but i almost DILDed. Maybe this can be an interesting induction technique? Combine with WBTB, and make it an intention to keep checking the time...I am going to actually try this in the morning. How weird...a technique discovered by mistake...
