My friend and I have just been arguing about a little something just a short while ago, and I was wondering whether anyone could clear this up.

Sometimes I do this thing where I say to my friend, after being extremely motivated, "I AM SO having an LD tonight, there's no chance of it not happening! Just watch." It's like a concrete thing where I'm insanely confident, but then I believe this is self defeating.

To me, everytime I do this, I end up NOT having an LD. I believe it puts way too much stress on your ego to HAVE one TONIGHT, that it actually prevents you from having one. I wake up the next morning not having one, and I go like "God dammit! Why didn't I have one!? I said I was going to!" Seems to me this is very bad to *assume* that you know the future.

I believe that the confidence comes from "attempting" to become lucid. If you try your best, shouldn't this give you the most confidence and then just make you lucid?

My friend on the other hand, says it's good to say that it will happen. It sends the right message to your subconscious, and it lets you know the outcome of the future. He says it gives him the emotional *heart sink* feeling where he feels it's about to happen and it can't be stopped.

What do you think? Should you hype yourself up saying "TONIGHT I WILL have an LD! NO QUESTION!" or should you go "Tonight I'll attempt my best and focus on becoming lucid."
