I tried a WILD this morning, at around 10:10. I didn't gain lucidity, nor did I expect to, but I thought that practice makes perfect so I decided to give it a go.

I entered sleep paralysis after about 15 minutes. That's not too hard - and I wasn't terribly tired when I started. The 61 point technique worked great. There seemed to be distinct stages to the paralysis. The first is a slight tingling which spreads over the body, the second is the "waves of static/electricity" that sweep through the body.

I did see some HI - a lot of light, points of light and geometric shapes that shifted in front of me. I did see a few faces - small and unclear - once I saw a log of light move towards me. But there were no distinct scenes or clear and colourful images. I did see colour - but nothing vivid.

But my biggest problem seems to be the outside world. I had ear plugs (blu-tac) and a towel over my eyes - but still, the distant rumblings of traffic and the clucking of some nearby chickens were quite distracting. I have one experience I would appreciate help understanding. I felt at a point like the process was deepening - the field of black in my eyes seemed to expand and wrap around me more. I pushed myself towards it - it was very intense my heart rate increased and I breathed harder. Is that bad for a start? I would have thought I should remain calm and decrease my heart rate!

Unfortunately, car (and chicken) sounds crept into my head and I slowly was forced back up through the layers.

I can see however, how this idea would work greatly with a WBTB - when the body is still tired and it is easy to fall back to sleep. Plus there are no cars or chook! Any comments would be greatly appreciated, I'm yet to have my first lucid dream but I think this could be a bit of catalyst - even if I can just get deeper, to the scenery HI.

Cheers
