New home made entrainment device

Hi gang, I was reading my latest edition of Make magazine and came upon a pretty cool do-it-yourself brainwave entrainment device written by Mitch Altman. The online version can be found here: http://makezine.com/10/brainwave/ I've made a posing on that site inviting people to join us here and asking Mitch if he has ever thought about developing a Nova Dreamer type of device.

I think I just stumbled upon a similar device on a German site. Their shop is in English however. http://onlineshop.mindfield.de/ You can just buy a device that supposedly alters your brainwaves by using light and sound cues generated by your computer. It does cost about 130 euros, but that's still cheaper than a novadreamer. But this is a totally different machine off course. It has no direct use for LDing I think. Does anyone know if this kind of stuff actually works? I've never really experienced that much effect from binaural beats mp3's. While looking for this kind of stuff I also found two other interesting projects. A do it yourself transcranial magnetic stimulation thing.
