I've awakened 'bugged out' before, but the clock test always works, hombre.

Maybe you focused too much on reality checking, became paranoid, or whatever, but usually, the day starts when you wake up with a successful reality-check.

Then, until you go back to bed, you can do reality checks to increase the chances of doing one in a dream, but you still will be awake.

      - until you go back to bed.

Reality is something messy... People should only "play" with it when they know they're ready for it. I mean, I've confused my dreams with reality, but I never confused reality with my dreams. RCs exist for something...
Maybe you just weren't ready to experience other states of consciousness, Kid-Lucid... Get lucid dreaming out of your head for some time so you can experience reality as it was before you got into lucid dreaming. Good luck and my advice is that you have fun with your situation, don't worry about it too much.

Thanks for sharing your concerns Kid-Lucid. It sounds like you have been going through a lot, and I understand your concerns. Would you be willing to share the techniques you used to achieve 100% control of your dreams? In addition to helping someone else avoid the same pitfall that happened to you, it might also offer some insight into why you became so successful at this, which turned out to be a bad thing for you? Maybe then someone could offer some advise to you on how to undo some of the unwanted success you've achieved. Thanks.

This doesn't work as a reality check! I tried it and I actually said "OUCH" in my dream... I tested, and pinching yourself could hurt even more in a dream than in a waking state! Nose or light switch RCs are more reliable.

Sure you might think, "oh I'll be able to know if im dreaming or not!", but after every single dream feels real, you begin to wonder if what you're doing will have you waking up 5 seconds later or embarrassing yourself or even worse injuring yourself. I have constant feelings of deja vu, I used to be afraid of public speaking, and I thought, maybe if I can achieve lucidity I can practice and maybe get over it, but now it comes to the point where I don't even care anymore.
I want that. It has broadened my perception, I can now appreciate the beauty or complete lunacy of my dreams. It gives me ideas for artwork and stories.

If anything I feel happier in dreams than I do in RL. I felt like RL was just a dream...then I would be happy.

      Cool

i've gone through this before, it's naturally. It should wear off and you should 'get used to it' in the sense that even if you can't tell what's real and whatnot - you will know for sure, even if it seems 'surreal' or like a dream when you are awake.

I was wondering if this may ever be a factor. I've sometimes had dreams in dreams and never knew when I was awake. The worst was when I woke up from a dream, won a lot of money (which I guess isn't an everyday occurance anyway) and then woke up again to find out I hadn't won any money.

LOL that sounds really annoying! Just like when you fly in a non-lucid dream and then you wake up to realise you really can't do it...

      Solipsism syndrome

Check out this Wikipedia article about Solipsismsyndrome. Maybe that's what you're experiencing.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism_Syndrome

Solipsism syndrome is a state of mind in which a person begins to feel that everything is a dream and is not real.
Solipsism is a philosophical theory that everything is in the imagination, and there is no reality outside one's own mind. As a philosophical theory it is interesting because it is internally consistent and, therefore, cannot be disproved. But as a psychological state, it is highly uncomfortable. The whole of life becomes a long dream from which an individual can never wake up. Even friends are not real, they are a part of the dream. A person may feel very lonely and detached, and eventually becomes apathetic and indifferent.
Some environments are conducive to producing solipsism syndrome. This state of mind can be easily produced in an environment where everything is artificial, where everything is like a theater stage, where every wish can be fulfilled by a push-button, and where there is nothing beyond the theater stage and beyond an individual's control.
Several strategies to alleviate the tendency toward the solipsism syndrome in artificial environments (such as man-made habitats in outer space or under water) are discussed in NASA's "Space Settlements: A Design Study" which proposes designs for Space colonization:

That's really interesting! I have that all the time and I didn't even know it was considered a syndrome! I'll have to disagree with the consequences of the syndrome. I find it more amusing than depressing! My biggest issue is to know if I'm alone or not! Even if I am, life continues and it's fun anyway!

there's such thing as reality checks to know if you're dreaming or not. also, dream characters are very different from real people (for me at least) they're all idiots and say totally random things and do whatever you want them to do. There are ways to know if you're awake.

another thing.. that's kind of off subject, how come people say "pinch me, i'm dreaming" cause if it hurts then you're awake, but people can feel pain in their dreams.

Don't worry, he's slightly whacked. Well, not really, what he's going on about is probably very unlikely to happen to you. LDing is a fun and safe hobby, keep on going!
