VERY FRUSTRATED!! Can't stay lucid in DILD's.

I've been having DILD's lately, but they only last a few moments after the realization that I am dreaming and then I am thrown right back into the dream as if nothing ever happened. It's like I'm not strongly enough lucid I guess? Usually when I become lucid within a dream it's very strong and I stay lucid for a good while. Can anyone help me as to why I can't stay lucid at all? It would be very appreciated, it's really annoying the hell out of me and frustrating!!

      I have the same problem

Whenever i realise i'm dreaming, i become lucid only for a few seconds before being pulled back into the dream, eventhough i can keep calm and not get excited. It sucks but i guess you gotta concentrate more or sumthin...

i just had one of those last night. My first controlled lucid dream. I took flight and soared over my town and lost lucidity from there. ugh, you can read bout it here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=37401

makes me sick with anger how stupid and panicky i got with it. My advice, Keep control of yourself and stay calm. do something simple if you want control of your dream but don't try to take full control or you'll lose lucidity.

      Same here...

I have the same problem with my 2 "lucid dreams". One of them I woke up right after looking into a mirror and realizing I'm dreaming. The other, I was just like "yeah I'm dreaming, what of it", and never did anything about it. It's really annoying!

strange you mention the mirror thing because that's how I became lucid in a dream the other night I was looking in a mirror and realized, "hey, I'm dreaming!" before being swept back into the dream like nothing ever happened....grrrr.

I am pretty decent at WILDs and can have those generally at will but DILD's for some reason are sooo difficult for me to gain control of. when it does happen though, they're amazing. Obviously my first lucid dream was a DILD, and I will NEVER forget it!!

well i just had some chocolate and two cups of chamomile tea and I'm ready for one tonight. I've been doing at least 20-30 RC's a day and I didn't have anything but a few sentences in my DJ for last night, so we'll see if I double up on REM tonight. I've been repeating to myself, every time I RC, that I'll rub my hands together and spin around once I'm lucid. I also wrote down my plans for it so I could imprint it in my subconscious.

the second you realize you're lucid you have to rub your hands and yell "increase lucidity!" that one sounds stupid but it really works. Good Luck!

Well my first lucid was years ago, like at the age of ten. At that time I didn't know a thing about dream control or what the word "lucid" even meant. So on a tecnicality I guess I have to call it a lucid, but I only was able to extend my control over my dreams since about a week and a half ago. I did in fact have a lucid last night, but only because I did a WBTB around 5 or 5:30-ish. I found myself in my shower wearing all my clothes and thought "wow, this isn't obvious." I jumped up and floated through my ceiling and landed on my front lawn. My front lawn just fell apart and I fell into a black hole. Literally, it was as if my lawn was holding itself up and any additional pressure would cause it to collapse.
