      Failed WILD, please help.

      Everyone always says that the WILDs were there best lucids, so I wanted to try it. Maybe my technique needs tweeking, please critique it and maybe answer some questions.

      Straight from my dream journal:
      The I got up around 5 and figured that I would try to do a WILD. I went downstairs and fed the dog, then took a leak, took 50mg of Diphenhydramine before going back to bed. I was up for about five minutes. I layed on my back and slowly (5 or 10 minutes) white hypnogogic lights started to appear. Most were soft and plasma-like, but occasionally there would be a small bright one.

      Then my arms and legs started to tingle and feel heavy. As the lights got a little bit more intense I suddenly felt as if I was falling. Then the imagery stopped and so did the falling feeling, but my arms still tingled.

      Then with I started to feel as if I was upside-down and with each breath I was rotating backwards. Every-so-often, usually with an exhale, I would hear the sound of metal jingling like keys or a dog tag.

      Now the lights turned blue and danced around beautifully, but I didn't really concentrate on them. Then they stopped again, but I still felt fairly heavy and tingly. Then the lights started again after a minute, this time white and orange, and with a few minutes the orange turned to blue. Then went back to white, then they were gone and I gave up.



      Even with the sleeping pill I couldn't get to sleep, what gives?

      Do the colours mean something? (Blue, orange?)

      Did I just try it too late? The sun was already poking through when I tried.

      Usually when I fall asleep I'm on my stomach or side, but usually wake up on my back, should I try to WILD on my side or stomach instead?

      Would the sound of a bird chirping outside make a difference? Because there was.

      how many times have you tried WILD? cause that was amazingly close for someone new at it The colors dont mean anything they are just clues, but ive even WILDed without the HI before. Just try WILD in a comfortable position. for me its my side or my stomach, but you got pretty close on your back. I dont think that the birds made much of a difference, they are distracting sometimes though.

      And about the sleeping pill...

      ...I heard somewhere that sleeping pills make WILD harder dont some sleeping pills hinder rem sleep? I dont know much about them though so dont take my word for it.

      i think you just need a little more practice. you had already got to the vibrations from all the vertigo you expeirenced maybe you just need to do a reality check when the feeling start to subside. Thats how i WILD. Mine start with a FA always good luck!

      I had a similar experience yesterday morning. I woke up from a nap after returning home early from the final day of school. When I woke up, I immediately tried to WILD. Within about 20 seconds, my vision twisted into a powerful blue vortex and I had minor sleep paralysis. I felt myself entering an LD, and I was so excited, but SP scares me, so I fought it and forced myself to wake up. I attempted it again today, but it didn't work.

      Maybe I was in a WILD and didn't know it. Where will I usually end up in a WILD? ei: A random dream, in my bed with a false awake? Anyone else?

      i usually end up with a false awakening, but ive had a WILD where i felt as if i sunk through my bed and started falling, and ended up falling into the back seat of a purple truck. That was probably my favorite lucid dream now that i think of it
