Thread: WILD after playing video games

I've noticed after playing video games for three hours straight, that when I go to lay down and close my eyes, I still 'see' certain parts of the game, like the enemies, the guns, HUD, almost like extremely dull HI. I believe this was even demonstrated scientifically in an experiment done after people have played tetris for an extended period of time.

So, I'm just saying, maybe this can help in getting to WILD easier. If you 'see' something to a degree, it is VERY easy to STRONGLY visualize an area, in my case arenas in first-person shooters.

When I was playing a lot of Halo 2 last summer, I could visualize the multiplayer perfectly. I could hold a pretend controller in my hand and know exactly how master chief would respond.

I wish I would have known more about visualization in regards to dreaming. I think it would help, as I've even had dreams involving videogames when thinking about them intently while going to bed.

It doe not have to be video games though; after an intense activity, like a fast-paced sport, I tend to involuntarily visualize, as you said, the events. Also like a video game, I tweak the events if I did not like the outcome.

Yeah I remember after I played Guilty Gear for a few hours then I went to bed I would be visualizing battles I had or making ones up and they would play out in my mind just like they would have if I had actually been playing the game.

Hah, the exact same thing has been happening to me- playing our little combos and what not in my head.

I think video games have great potential as lucid aids. I remember that after playing Oblivion for an immensely long period of time not only did I begin seeing vague HI but too was I actually playing the game in my dreams.

Yeah...this works for theme parks too....go on a lot of roller coasters that day, and you'll see that crap in your head for a while before you go to sleep. Also going to the skate park used to do the trick...as for WILDing...it's worth a try. I haven't tried it since I've learned how to...but I have done a WBTB after playing ridge racer for a hour and going back to sleep instead of the normal, write in DJ read about LDs and stuff routine.

I think you're right. I've also seen where they had someone play a snowboarding game and most of them had dreams about it that night.
