why not try a NILD (nitemare induced LD)...

hey all. i just was thinking how having a nitemare is an easy way to become lucid, why not just make urself have a nitemare and boom, u'll become lucid. i mean it seems simple enough to work. i can only think of 2 problems that could occur while trying it: #1-You won't have a nitemare. & #2-You won't become lucid and just have the nitemare, and we kno that those arn't fun. i kno whenever i eat something spicy, i always have a nitemare. so i can basicly get around problem #1 without any trouble. what do u guys (and girls) think?

That's so wierd. I had my first nightmare in about a year the other night. I became pretty scared and mad, and started to realize that this certain scenerio could never happen (getting chased by cars, getting in fights, government men in biohazard suits). I then became lucid.

I know for sure now that every time that I have a nightmare, I will become lucid.
.......Then I think of my youth and of my first love-when the longing of desire was strong. Now I long only for my first longing. What is youth? A dream. What is love? The substance of a dream.

that wouldnt work for me, I wake up as soon as anything scary happens. Like, ill turn around and see some kinda horrible face and boom! I wake up.
The most sure fire way for me to get nightmares to is to be extremely hot whilst im asleep.

      I haven't had a nightmare since I was little. Right now, all my dreams are either normal ( ) , bizzare ( ), or disturbing ( )

I don't think it would work for me because in all my dreams I usually accept everything around me as reality, even if it is the most bizzare thing imaginable.

It could work if their is a common dreamsign in your nightmare. Then, you can do a reality check when you see it and become lucid .

Nightmares of being attacked are near foolproof dreamsigns for me too
Unfortunately, I don't often have them
      Or they are non-violent nightmares

Spicy food doesn't work for me either
Perhaps some ominous scary sounds beside the bed?

Indeed. I have been Lucid dreaming for three years now and have had only one Bad dream that I did not become Lucid. I am fortunate I guess. For whatever reason whenever I am having a bad dream I become aware that I am dreaming. Therefore becoming Lucid and then changing the scenario.

Well, I'd like to try this, but I haven't had a nightmare since I was six...
Whenever I have people chase me or try to kill me in my dreams nowadays (*chuckle*: 'nowadays'...what a funny word!) I just start laughing and beat them all up. They've gone from worst to near the best...Anyways, isn't this just Dream Sign Lucidity? Nightmares could be considered a DS, since they're really just an irrational placement of objects/creatures/people who happen to scare the dreamer.

Yea, that happens to me, but I never ever have nightmares. They do result in lucid dreams though. Perhaps I should try to eat some spicy food, like you said.

Wouldn't disturing be considered a nightmare?
