      How to use my dreamsign?

      Hi,
Ok I've been recording my dreams for about 3 months now and have identified some potential dreamsigns.

My home town of 18 years is about 70% of the time in my dreams together with my home town friends(any one of about 7) and my numerous school people.

I have not lived in my home town for about 20 years and very rarely see any of my old friends.

Can anyone give me any techniques as to how use these DSs to become lucid.

I've as yet not had any LDs and am currently trying DILD, WILD and WBTB. I'm doing RCs about 20 times or more a day.

      Please help, thanks in advance.

      Paulh.

Wow! It sounds like you're well on your way to having your first LD. Your dreamsigns can be used in a number of ways. For example, many techniques use dreamsigns as a main part of the method. I, personally, use my dreamsigns as ... kind of ... "Reality Check Alerts". If I see my dreamsign at any point, I will RC. This means that if you constantly check reality upon seeing a white cow or your brother or whatever your dreamsign may be (your home town and your friends from there, in your case), you will begin to do it in your dreams - the place where you see this object most often!

Best of luck with your LDs. I bet you a fiver you have one within a week or so.

      Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I'm a Brit too. I would gladly pay you a fiver for my first LD.

Trouble is I never go to my home town anymore or see my old friends so I can't do a RC if you know what I mean.

      Doh.

Zombies appear frequently in my dreams. So everytime I think of zombies (often as I'm a zombie movie fan and one of my favourite metal bands is zombie themed) I do a reality check.

yeah, sometimes you can identify what your dreamsigns represent, whatever feeling, emotion or situation they reveal, and then by thinking about them more frequently and doing RCs you get th best of all worlds - have more lucids at will, and figure out what your non-lucid dream world is trying to process...sometimes it seems our dream signs are operating as guides for information - it would seem its easier to become lucid from them, but, in my experience anyway, they are usually what take me out of lucidity, while noticing abnormal things triggers lucids better.. and by abnormal i just mean something intrinsically incinsistent withint the dream itself

Maybe you can take 5 minutes or so before sleep and think or say to yourself, "When I see (old friend) I will know that I am dreaming" or "I will do an RC whenever this happens". Like for you it could be, "Whenever I am back in (hometown or specific place), I will know that I am dreaming."

I like to say it out loud; I think both saying and hearing it makes it get into your brain better, like when you're trying to memorize something.

I made a recording of myself saying phrases like "When you see people from work, and you're not at work, you know you're dreaming"; and a whole list of my DS's like that and I played it periodically.

Do reality checks in waking life whenever you encounter, or even think about your dream sign. Then you will hopefully do it in your dream when your dreamsign in present.
