3 weeks or so to dedicate to lucidity - any suggestions?

In a couple days I will be traveling to Australia for three weeks or so, and I will have no work and no Internet access. I really want to devote some serious time to practicing lucid dreaming, and I think this is a good time to do so.

I'll tell you about my lucid history:

I've been practicing for a number of years (embarrassing, I know), on and off. I have yet to 'break through' and have a good lucid dream. My total is about 40 or 50 lucid dreams, maybe more, but they have all been short and not terribly vivid, probably due to them happening right at the end of my last REM cycle. I have tried a whole lotta techniques, but I think part of my problem is that I don't keep it up long enough. I recently kept a dream journal seriously for the first time, for about three months. By the end of that time I could remember about 15 mins to half an hour of one dream per night.. pretty much the same as when I began. I stopped about a week ago. I can meditate or WILD to a point where I get short 'dream-flashes' where I forget my body and become absorbed in some random illusion, but they go as soon as I realize that its happening. I don't really know if that's useful though. In the dreams that I recall, I seem to be aware that I am dreaming at all times, but rarely make the leap to an actual proper LD.

So basically my 'plan' right now is:
-to meditate at least once a day, often on lucid dreaming
-to attempt WILD often, usually 4-5 hours after falling asleep at night
-to attempt to fall asleep every night thinking about lucid dreaming
      -to keep a dream journal

My current long term goal with LD induction are pretty much to be able to LD at will, but also to induce as many LDs as possible by whatever method along the way.

Does anyone have any comments/suggestions pertaining to this hopefully successful and intensive LD course?

      Thanks in advance.

That's great to have a period of time to dedicate to dreaming. I can't add anything except to do lots of reality checks as well. Maybe a few days of doing them extremely frequently, like every 10-15 minutes or as often as you can.

Let us know how it went when you get back.

      Enjoy Australia too!

Ah, reality checks, of course! Excellent suggestion, I think i shall add it to my list.

About the B6: it's easily available at vitamin stores? Should I take it at bedtime, or some time before?

Haha cheers mate. I'm actually an Aussie, from Perth (Go Eagles etc ). To clarify, I will have some internet access, cause, as you said, internet cafes. Theres one right next to the beach I'll be surfing at, which is nice.

about the b-6, any pharmacy or vitamin store will have it. it comes in a range from 50-100mgs a tablet most of the times. 100mg is the upper limit to the normal dosage you should take per day. take it an hour before you sleep, and with something small to eat. your dreams will become easier to remember and full of more events. b-6 def makes a differance with me, but i can tell that its only slight, its not necessary. Remember not to take too much b-6 as that although its a vitamin, it is possible to overdose. just dont go around munching like 3 or 4 a day and you'll be fine. if at any point you begin to have extrematies that tingle, stop taking the b-6 as this is the sign that your taking too much.

If you have an ipod or a portable CD player it would be good to listen to a lucid dreaming mp3. "The Lucid Truth" is a really good one. Also, i think just reality checks are important. I dont think you'd need internet access to be able to lucid dream if you know enough techniques. Good luck and have fun in australia!

Where can one find an mp3 like this? Would you be willing to upload it?

Well, if it makes you feel better, I've been practicing lucid dreaming for 2 years now with no luck. I've come close but every time I notice I wake up.

I've been jotting down my dreams for a long time now, with about 100 entries. I can typically remember 2-3 dream a night.

I quite taking melatonin, on account of the fact that it makes me forget dreams and I'm extra groggy the next morning. However, it does make my dream extremely intense when I can remember them.

Anyway, I think for some people its just more difficult to get results.

Archdreamer, there's a section in this forum on alternative sleep schedules. There's a lot of good information there, you should check it out.
