How long did it take you?

Hey, I just learned about lucid dreaming a few weeks ago and everything i hear from it sounds soooooo amazing. I was just wondering how long it took you all to have your first lucid dream on purpose.

While trying to have a LD my dreams have become VERY clear and more vivid, and lately i know i have been subconciously noticing that i am having a dream. Am i close now or do i still have a while to go?

      Woot first post!

      First off,

Secondly, it really depends on the person. Had my first lucid about two weeks after coming to this forum and going through it extensively. Even then it was a low-level lucid, and I'm still working on quality. Sounds like you're fired for a lucid pretty soon since your subconscious is picking up on things.

      Keep it up!
      Are you dreaming?

Hey guys I had my first lucid dream after 3 months of practice, and the fun thing is, I got it on the night when I didn't even try to have a LD.

If you need guides and stuff in different techniques visit http://www.ld4all.com, it's a great site and they've got a forum with over 10.000 helpfull dreamers.

I did try to have a lucid dream, I just didn't get it from any technique.
I tried WILD for 15 minutes until I gave up and fell asleep, then I woke up from a nightmare and fell asleep again. Here's when I had my lucid dream which after 30 seconds faded of to a normal dream.
I guess my nightmare waking me up kind of made it a WBTB cause I thought about lucid dreaming while falling asleep again and BAM I was in a dream

Not to freak you out or anything, but just be aware that it can take some time. In my case I started trying after reading The Teachings of Don Juan (Castaneda) in '95. I had my first LD May 12, 2007. And no, I'm not kidding.

Of course I only started REALLY trying hard to LD in March of '07. I still haven't had another since. I'll tell you this for nothing though... it's totally worth any/all the effort you'll put into it. When you have your first LD you'll see what I mean. It's akin to being reborn. Suddenly you realize there's this whole other universe you never even knew existed. You might suspect this while preparing to LD but when it finally happens it's one of the most liberating experiences you'll ever have. As one of the DV members said to me after my first "the world just got a little bit bigger for you, didn't it?" No kidding.

      Good luck and godspeed.
      smooches,

It actually didn't take long for me. From my first attempt starting may 28 '07, it took me one week exactly. I gave, and still give, 100% effort and I advise you to do the same. Constantly search the web, books, etc. for any information possible that could be of use and always have an open mind to everything given, even if it sounds like an absurd notion.

Also, what exactly do you mean by subconscioulsly knowing your dreaming. Remember, when you know your dreaming, that is a lucid, even if you subconsciously think it.

My advice is to watch for recuring dream signs and do two or three different reality checks everytime you think about them or see them during the day. It will get you into a habit that you will take to sleep with you. I do about 40-50 RC's a day, I have a piece of software that makes subliminal messages appear on my screen that aid in lucid dreams (I just installed it and waiting for a turnout) and I meditate daily. Last but not least, look into Dream Yoga. Just search it on this site.

I hope you enjoy your first lucid and remember to stay calm at first. Take ample care because I have to work hard for my LD's and I don't let any of mine go to waste, you shouldn't either.

Good luck, you may or may not need it.

well on my first try i remember telling myself in the dream that it was a dream and then i carried on with the dream still knowing it.

I also noticed that a dream sign might be blue things. that first dream in which i noticed was pretty much all blue (the sand, the grass, the water, the leaves and the sky) but different shades. Yesterday i also saw a blue school bus and did a RC and it failed. I woke up right away though but was still very happy b/c i am getting there.

And thanks guys, so far i have gotten very different answers, I will give it 100% and have been thouroughly reading this and other websites learning everything i can.
