      Using Methaphors to aid WILD?

I, and alot of people on here, have trouble with WILD to cling on to one thought, the lucid intention, and hold onto it the bentire way into sleep. The "Sandman's spell" usually gets most of us off guard, drowsy and thinking uncontrolable and carreying us away into the unconscious. I have a Topic about it here:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=38844

Now to focus on a narrative storyline, a fantasy that turns thoughts into daydreams, that interacts with our thoughts and perceptions as we fall asleep by Symbolising each element as an object, person or event in our daydream. I think for many of us focussing on a daydream/fantasy is easier than on mere thoughts. An example of this might go a little something like this:

You're in a wooden lifeboat(Yourself, Ego) on the ocean(The space of your mind) and you're rowing. You've left from the shore of sleep(From waking life in bed) and set out for the DreamWorld which is entered by sailing/rowing right into a cave in a large rock sticking out of the ocean's surface; The DreamGate. Your mission is to enter the Illusive DreamGate with a Clear mind and experience that and what comes next fully conscious. However the cave is still many many miles across the ocean from the Shore of Sleep and on the way rowing there, there are many sideway currents and winds (Distractie thoughts & feelings) that are likely to carrey you off of your course: And your course must a be a straight one or after rowing many miles slightly off of your course you will end up miles next to the dreamgate and enter a terrible, destroying storm (Unconsciousness) thus you must do your best to try and remain on your course, using the peddles to go forward and re-adjust your course every now and then.

Sometimes a Current or wind will come(Distractive thoughts) but you will not be carried away by them and row yourself back on your course with your paddles. Sometimes heavy, magical fog comes that makes your Mind offguard and stupified. (Mind getting "cloudy" due to sleep) You must fight this off in order not to fall unconscious and end up in the great Storm of unconsciousness that lies ahead might you miss the dreamgate.(non Lucid Dream) To become more clearminded again and fit it into this story you coul imagine all of this and then opening a backpack and getting a bottle of "Crystal Clear Mind Cleaner". A fresh, tasty drink that clears the mind and sharpens the senses. Now armed with all of this you will not give up untill you make it with a clear Mind into the dreamgate. If not tonight, then tomorrow night.

Furtherly you could Imagine the K.O.-knocking storm flips your boat and sends you to sinking down in the depth of the ocean into an upside down ocean surface under which lies the DreamWorld(non lucid Dream). If you make it through the narrow DreamGate you will go Down a waterfall surrounded with intense light and enter a sort of waterway-rollercoaster that rides through a world under the ocean surface yet not in the water(Vibrations/intense hypnagogic state right before falling asleep)

This would be even clearer if I added some illustrations which I will do soon.
You could also make up your own methaphoric stories for this purpose, but do you think it might work and is worth giving a serious shot?

i actually give this idea a mind to settle in. Especially the adventure part. Yes it's great. I've once used the going up the staircase WILD technique. I indeed endedup in my staircase after i fell asleep. Suddenly realized lucidity at its cost and flew out my window. Yes i like this tech because it requires your mind to be more active on being conscious actually. Though im sort of afraid of any deep ocean ill try creating a sort of earthbound adventure instead. Great idea man since i've just madeup my mind on taking the WILD tech into more consideration. I'm definetly going back to bed and trying it. thnx alot for this one

Everyone is sort of affraid of the Ocean: it's so wide, so deep and so awe-demanding. I'd say it's not per say scary but overly impressive. Perhaps this adds up to your attention staying there. And fear is a good motivation. The ocean is just as the mind; an awe-demanding experience and only the slightes change of direction will make you end up miles and miles wast or east of the Dreamgate. Perhaps also visualise a compas and hen you are carried away a bit westwards you compensate it till your compass points north to the dreamgate again. I'll soon make some illustrations. That should help alot.
