      A different approach to RC's

Well I can honestly say I learned something after two months of attempting to LD. There are only two things you need to have an LD. Number one, which people forget this all too often, is the confidence factor. It is not just about RCing. You also need to be confident in your ability to LD, and expect one to occur each night. Aside from that RCing is still important. It's not just RCing a certain amount of times during the day. The number doesn't mean anything, what matters is the effect it has on you. You need emotion in your RC's otherwise they are just repetitive and are likely to have a negative influence on your ability to LD. For instance, I used to have an alarm on my cell phone that would go off every 10 min. or so to remind me to RC. If you didnt see the problem in that, I'll point it out to you. Instead of me keeping it in my head as a goal to RC many times, I held it as no importance at all because my cell phone would do the reminding for me. Also at the time, I was not aware that confidence played a role in whether I was to LD at night, so I was essentially screwing myself. Instead RC's should be targeted to your dreamsigns, not strange events, because in your dreams, very rarely do things seem strange enough to do an RC, which is exactly why LDing is not as easy for people. The moral of the story is that the two factors (confidence and RCs) are like Yin and Yang. You can't have one without the other.

The other problem with the phone is that it won't remind you in your dream where it matters.

I never remember to RC, even though I really really want to. I usually have DILDs by luck, and they're not usually very vivid. Hard to have confidence with that hanging over your head. Plus the problem with having confidence is that if you're confident and still fail, you gradually lose confidence, which causes you to fail more, and it becomes a viscious cycle. Sad.

Of course you need confidence..if you dont think you are going to LD then you aren't going to, simple as that...its a mind game, and the mind is a powerful thing..I never knew how to lucid dream, but knew i was a very smart and fast learner...i read how to have a WILD, and had the confidence i'd do it, and did, the first 5 tries....after that i felt like i was a natural at it, but at the same time i feel like i only was able to do it because i knew i could...
