okay, if you visit my webpage (www.geocities.com/outcast20087923) ( a bit later as in, when i get that part up again) you can find plans for some rudamentary LD goggles, of course, those rely on guesswork as to when you are in REM.

BUT

there are two ways I can make better ones, any suggestions and comments are welcome, I am not that experienced in electronics, but I can solder, and I understand all of the symbols there are and how they apply, ect.

1) Using software that links to your computer such as dreamweaver you can directly connect goggles to the computer via serial port, but that is hard to sleep with, having a cable connected to your head, and a whirring compy in the background, lights and all. So there is this website, right? and of course, i have forgotten the name of it, it shows you how to make (with about 5 parts each) a wireless serial link. It is tiny, and other than adding in a power source (that could be located on the back of a strap going arond your head) it would be weightless. This could also support sound.

or...

2) If you have an optical mouse at hand, place it over your eye, and wait for the light to grow dim, then move your eye around a bit, (closed, of course) the light should grow bright, and the mouse start to move around on the screen a bit. So if somone could create a simple logic circut, aka, if voltage high then activate LED 1 else, activate LED 2, whereas led 1 would be in the visible light spectrum, and led 2 would be infared, so as to let you actually fall asleep. Somehow you must lower the sensitivity of it so as to actually let you move around a bit, although tighter goggles will also stop this from happening. As soon as your eyes start moving back and forth in REM it should go off, and making LED 1 a blinking led would also be a good idea, or since the led already on the mouse can penatrate your eyelid you could just put an RC circut on it to make it blink (no not RC as in remote control)

other than training yourself to question if you are awake or not when you see a blinking light no other training is required.

Q's? comments?
