      Oh God, WILD!!!

      I have been attempting WILD lately, but after a while I start getting this wavey feeling in my face and some of my body. I've heard this is normal, so that is good. However, I start to notice that my breathing has become shorter and I start feeling like I am not getting enough air, so I start breathing a little harder, but then the feeling in my face and body go away and I'm right back where I started. Is there something I can do to stop this?

      Wow, exact same problem as me! I'm very interested in the awsner.

      But, I do have a few awsners. Did you just start WILD'ing like me? Maby cause we get excited that it's actually working. Then it causes are breathing to slow down.

      Also, you could try and use bigger breaths then just small ones.

      I'd wait for someone smarter then me to respond. Shouldn't take too long!

      it probably has to do with excitement. What are some other opinions?

      Well, if you are getting excited, then the only solution is to practice and get it so it doesn't bother us. I've been pracitcing and I no longer freak out and the colors and i'm working my way up.

      it could be that our body has to get used to SP. so we can engage it for a longer time.
      100+ Nights of LDs in my high school days.
      Starting again after almost 10 years.

      i've asked this question loots of times and tried to search for it. but either they give a really stupid answer or ppl just avoid tell you. which is pretty ghey by the way cause ive been stuck on this step for a long time.

      its sleep paralysis and its totaly normal, the breathing thing is normal to. you don't need to worry about the breathing. it all means your going to sleep, stay aware and fall asleep and you will succeed. as for stopping it you don't not if you want to succeed anyway.

      your body won't let anything bad happen to you, just do it and don't think about it.

      Yeah, but sometimes you need to take HUGE breathes of air and it would seem that it would interrupt the process.

      i kinda know what you are talking about, because when i was learning WILD. i had problems like this as well. Not exactly like this, but pretty close. it is hard to avoid a stupid answer, cause its hard to explain. All i can say is to ignore it. When i was learning to WILD, everyone was always talking of focus, and being aware of what was happening. this seemed to hinder me. I would be focusing on WILD, and trying to stay aware, when little feelings of vertigo and stuff would start happening. If i focused on these though, they would vanish. So I tried to ignore them. But thinking about what i was trying to ignore made them disapear as well! i started getting frustrated. And decided that the best thing would be to try and keep my mind busy. So i wouldnt notice what was happening to my body. But you have to stay consious at the same time. That is where the trouble is. You need to be aware enough so you dont fall asleep, yet you need to ignore everything, and not be aware at the same time.

      wow. i'm confusing myself. well anyway, good luck. Hope you got what i was trying to say, and i hope it didnt sound stupid.

      So basically he said just to try and ignore it and get through it...

      Hard to do, but keep practicing and you'll get it!

      The shortness of breath is completely normal, I would suggest just relaxing further, because your body will never just STOP giving you air. Just relax, because your body is only taking in as much air as you need for the state you're in. Relax and think about something else, think about your dream, think about what you're going to do once you become lucid.

      Have an idle mind, because if you think too much, you'll bring yourself back to being fully awake.

      If you REALLY can't find anything to think about, do what I do. I think this is called finger induced LD, where you alternate pressing your index, and middle fingers, but just enough so the muscle contracts, but your fingers barely move. Then you just think about your fingers alternating. Don't count how many times, or go 1 2 1 2, just think about them doing what they're doing, as if your mind isn't making them do that. After awhile of this I tend to get WILD sensations. Flashes of colors, vibrations, etc. At this point I continue doing the finger thing, but become aware that I could be dreaming at any moment.

      Thats my routine for becoming lucid. It's worked once already, on the first try!

      I've never had shortness of breathe when I WILD. Of course I've only been able to successfuly do it 4 times that I can recall (I don't try it that often). And even then, 3 of them ended about 20 seconds after iniation, although one of them was a very long and rewarding lucid dream, one of my best I would say. My method is kinda easy, I don't know if they tell you it in the tutorial. There is a type of feeling of motion that you can do at anytime that you need to be able to do...sortof like trying to lift your body but not really... I think in the tutorials they describe it as the opposite of what I do. (take your finger and put it to your keyboard key, now press as hard as you can without pushing the key down, that is what I do, except I do it in the opposite direction, and with my limbs, not my fingers. I think that is the one Torrent was talking about.)

      Anyway, just do that the entire time your laying in your bed, its actually very comfortable, like floating on a cloud. Eventually when you reach SP you'll know that your in SP because you wont be able to "lighty press up" anymore...you will feel very very heavy. I wouldn't want to keep my thoughts empty though...that would make it very hard for me to get sleepy lol. I usually entertain some day dream while i'm waiting to get into SP, and once I feel that I am in SP I try to get up, out of my bed. Which does pose a problem though, since its very very hard to tell if your asleep or awake, one time I got up and had no dream powers, and the appartment was very realistic. The only way I was able to tell I was asleep was the fact that nothing in the appartment was in the right place...well that and the fact that I knew I had just been in SP.
