Giving up is probably the best idea because you have been going about it for so long and so intently. I would be willing to bet that if you just let your conscious mind forget about it, you will have a lucid dream in a few months without even trying. Let you subconscious take over for now. Once you get your first lucid, your interest will resume, but without the mental block.

      well, it happened, I think

Last night I took 8mg of Galantamine, 100 mg of B5, 400 mg of Choline an listened to a sublinal tape while I sleep. But I think it was the fact that was horny and wanted to see someone in my dreams and I had a feeling it was going to happen. and It happenec. I became aware, started to look around at my surroundings, even decided to fly a little, but when I tried to conjur up the girl it did not happen. Also When things started to fade, I spun around and it stopped fading, at least for awhile then I lost it. But here is the problem. Was it really a lucid dream or a dream about me having a lucid dream? You see when I lucid dream, which is rare, it feels strange, incredible even but last night it felt like any other dream so I wonder if it was just a dream about a lucid dream. Do you know what I mean?
Time is neither my friend nor my enemy, but my indifferent companion.

      Wow, what a revelation!
That explains a lot! I'm on my way - step aside - dreams, here I come!

Never give up so easily as that not everything can be done so easily. Also, somtimes things won't come whenever you is too stress for it,try relaxing for a few days then try again.Never force it,the more you force it to come,it won't come.

Don't blame you one bit zeroroom. I've been feeling exactly the same way lately.

Sometimes, because of the depression that can result when someone tries so hard, but is unsuccessfully at doing something, it is best to just forget about it for a while.

It might also help to set your goals a bit lower.

Instead of trying so hard to become lucid, you might just try remembering as many dreams as you can. That's what I've had to do lately.

BTW pj. Thanks for the inspiring signature. I needed that, so am adding that to my own signature as a reminder.

Here's some advice that I've thought of that I am also going to use myself.

I'll just call it conditioned response for lack of a better name.

Decide on a technique that you want to use, or possibly combine several techniques together.

Then, continue doing these techniques every day, trying to improve on them a little bit every day.

Don't worry about having a lucid dream for now. Just concentrate on the techniques you are using, trying to improve on them a little more everyday.

Be sure and reward yourself for the improvements you have made in the techniques you are using, and feel good about the improvements you are making in the techniques you are using.

If one of your techniques is relaxing or self hypnosis, just try to become more relaxed or in a deeper state of hypnosis than the previous day.

And then congratulate yourself on the improvements you have made on whatever techniques you are using.

By concentrating on improving your techniques instead of trying to become lucid, you should find it easier to stay positive, and will be working toward the ultimate goal of being able to become lucid whenever you want.

I am so tired of the constant disapointments. This figures, whenever I get into something it never works out for me no matter how hard I try and how much hard work I put into it. This has been going on for months now and I so done.
Might I suggest that you are trying too hard? Lucid dreaming is not one of the only things that simply do not work if you overshoot the mark so to say.

I personally rarely if ever do a reality check only if I am bored or something completely unreal happens, light tripper over nothing when in a sober state . Dream journals self talk hypnosis and subliminal stuff all those vary as far as results and can make you go nuts if you take it too seriously. Taking herbs is usually a highly placebo effect as far as I am concerned for any benefits other than some digestive variation. Eat healthier and take a full multivitamin complex all day. Taking a large dose of a vitamin before bed can be bad as you will need to drink extra water and this can be troublesome all on its own.

In conclusion I can tell you that if you relax a litte, sleep in a quiet environment and try to get things off your mind instead of doing all these "extra" things you might have more success.

      Hi Zeroroom. Well done!

I would have to say that I think your dream was lucid because of the effect you could make upon it. I think the difference in feeling was probably down to the drugs.

I am quite experienced in LDing but usually enter the state by using my dream triggers, the recurring themes and characters that make me aware that I'm dreaming.

If you go back through your DJ and continue to keep a record of them I'm sure you'll find loads. Keep on reading through them and maybe even make a note of your top 5 then the next time you encounter one you will recognise it as a DS and you can become Lucid off it.

I hope this is of some help to you and congrats on your latest LD.

I don't sense that about zeroroom at all Selmuir, because I agree with zeroroom that trying to lucid dream can be very frustrating, especially when all of the attempts have gone unsuccessful, even the Galantamine pharmaceutical approch, which is supposed to work for just about everyone from what I've heard, and which is the next thing I am going to try.

That's why I suggested a different, more positive approach of forgetting about lucid dreaming for the time being and just concentrating on whatever things he might be having success with, and trying to improve on them in order to remain positive and build a good foundation from which lucid dreams can occur in the future.

The purpose of these forums is to help and support others in their efforts to learn lucid dreaming, not to make someone feel like a loser.

If there is ever anything I can help you with zeroroom, don't hesitate to ask.
