      RC's In Bed?

Ok so I know that when you go to bed, and your trying
to fall asleep, you dont want to be pinching your nose,
or looking at your hands to see if your lucid because
you'll never fall asleep doing that.

I guess my question is.. what kind of reality checks
can you do in bed while trying to fall asleep,
that dont require much movement, or any at all.

      thanks!

Not sure if they're any Rcs like that. You could just try Holding your breath and still see if you're breathing.

Yeah, what DreamingGod said. Just close your mouth and try to breath through your nose. If you can still breath, you're dreaming! That's the only RC I know of that you can do in bed...

There's a muscle in your throat that blocks your airways when you swallow. Clench that muscle, and try to breathe. If you are dreaming, you should be able to breathe.

I haven't personally tried this, but it's been mentioned around the forums. If you are having trouble with this technique, place your finger where your neck meets your chin at a ninety degree angle. That muscle there is what you are trying to clench. Hope this helps.

Can't go wrong with the good ol' nose-pinching RC.

However, I'm not sure that it's really necessary to do any reality checks while you are lying in bed to go to sleep. I've never had a dream in which I was lying in bed trying to sleep, and in the 2 1/2 years I've been here I've never read about someone else having such a dream. Dream scenarios tend to be more active. That said, it is a good habit to do a RC in bed when you first wake up in the morning. This is to catch yourself if you have a false awakening. False awakenings are more common for some people than for others, but generally everybody will have at least one at some time or other, so it's a good idea to be prepared for that.

I never even considered that....Personally, I don't like the throat-muscle technique. It just feels weird to me. I'll try the floating thing tonight.

Bite your lip, unless you can feel pain in dreams.

well venomblood that isn't a very good RC because pain isn't very static. Like one dream you wouldn't feel pain and another you would. Also, if you don't know your in a dream your mind will think, "Biting your lip causes pain so let's make some pain"

      If that made any sense.
