      Success Woot Woooooooooooot!

Just had me a short LD this morning. Woke up at 9:20, used restroom, and got back in bed. My alarm was going 2 go off at 10:00am I wasnt even planning on falling back asleep. But I laid down and closed my eyes, and said I will have a lucid dream. Before i knew it I was dreaming.

I was in what appeared to be a juvenile jail. It was more like a long narrow hallway with a bunch of rooms on the left and right. I saw one of my friends in a room to my left, who whispered my name as i was being walked past him. (By the guard, apparently I was being escorted to my room). I also saw my brother in one of the rooms. So we got to the end of the hallway and they said this would be your room. Which was a room about 10feet x 10 feet, With a TV and no bed and a bunch of junk just laying on the ground.

Now this is the weird part, I dont know how I figured it out but all of a sudden I said, "Im not staying in this garbage, all I got to do is wake up". Then I said "OOOOOOOOOOOO CRAP LUCID DREAM LUCID DREAM, calm down calm down, soon as I realized it things started to get cloudy" I walked down the hallway to what seemed to be the guards break room or something. I grabbed some weird flavored granola bar from the top of the fridge and then I stood still and felt it, turned it over rubbed my fingers across it. And finally the cloudyness disapeared. Now at this point I was like, what to do now... So the first thing I tried was I noticed I had cotton mouth and chapped lips, so I closed my eyes and tried to manifest some chap stick (LOL!) FAIL! Ok so maybe I'll need to practice a little more on the chap stick manifestation haha. So after this a guard comes up to me and says what are you doing? We end up getting into it and fighting. I tried telekenis during the fight, it worked but it wasnt strong enough. So we kept exchanging punches and kicks, and eventually I thought 'Man this is a complete waste of my LD time, I want to fly!!!' (Since flying is one of the things Ive managed to get good at) So I decided to stop fighting and try to find a way out. At this time everything went grey and I found myself awake. DAMNIT! A quick 20 minute LD and I didnt get to fly.

I'm TICKLED silly, this is just what I needed to boost my confidence. This is the first self-induced LD that Ive managed to have. I've awoke plenty of times after seeing dream signs, but never managed to keep lucidy.

      WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Todays going to be a good day.

      Also a few questions:

Does anyone have any tips on how to get out of wherever you are when you gain Lucidy?

What should be the first thing to do after I relax and feel an object after I gain Lucidy?

      Congrats, Llama!!

Well, couple things can work. Sometimes closing your eyes for just a second or two, turning around then opening back up helps. What I do is look at my hands, think of what I want to see when I look up, then look up. Also, you could try simply imagining where you want to be and that it's right behind you. Take a second, then slowly turn around.

The point is to give your mind a few seconds to 'render' a scene out for you ahead of time so when you finally observe (or look towards) the scene, it will be there.

What should be the first thing to do after I relax and feel an object after I gain Lucidy?
Whatever the hell you want - it's your world.

      Hehehe congratulations!

Also spinning works... sometimes... Try imagining a scene you want to go to and then spinning.

I may be in the minority, but I firmly believe that the best course of action for those new to LDs is to let the flow of the dream tell you what to do until you gain more control. Of course there are situations that you will want to get out of, but exploration can be very exciting, not to mention revealing.

There is also the danger of overexcitement if you try too much too fast. Launching immediately into a flying episode before grounding yourself will very likely wake you up. Stopping to really examine the granola bar was a very good idea. This can really bring up the realism in your surroundings. Next time, take a bite and let us know how it tastes!

      Hey there,

Congratulations! Happy to hear of your succes!

Personally, when it comes to changing dreamscenes, I like to use doors and windows, for their symbolic value. I'd tell myself I'd open that door and when I walk through it I'll be in another dreamscene, or I'd leap through the window and enter into another world. Because this is the kind of thing you often see/hear in fairie tales, movies, etc (ie it's part of the culture we grow up with), it's easier for my mind to accept it, and hence it often works. (in the same vein mirrors or pools would probably work too, or anything really that for you is associated with a mystical change in enviroment, maybe something you read in a book once or heard in a story once).

      Anyways, good luck!
