      almost getting WILD

hi guys, last night I tried WILD with near success. but, rather than sleeping first, I just stayed up until I was really tired and then tried the technique. Things really started off well. I started to see the colors, and my body began to feel heavy, some parts feeling numb. Then I started thinking about me rollerblading. as I lay there thinking about this I started to fade in my attention, but when I did I heard this loud noise. The loud noise sounded like a hollow tube being hit over my head, but the sound was extremely loud inside of my head. after this I couldn't get back in to the same state again...has this happened to anyone else and what can I do different? besides sleeping first rather than staying up late enough to be really tired.

I would say just try your technique a few more times and see if the same thing happens. Who knows, every night you might experience very different types of SP effects.

tkdyo, sadly I've never been able to WILD at the onset of a first sleep (i.e., without sleeping some hours first) but I wish you luck in you're attempts.

As Mes stated, just keep trying your "technique" and see if you get any closer to lucidity.

alright, I tried again last night...and once again I got to feeling sleep paralysis and starting to see the colors. but this time rather than a loud noise my whole body had one big twitch and all of the sudden I was wide awake again....I feel like this techniuqe may be working for me, thanks for the assurence!

edit. I forgot to mention this time I got a feeling like the bed was tipping and I was going to slide down it! it was cool. after that feeling I also got the sinking feeling. dang body just deciding to spaz on me!

tkdyo, the hallucinations you feel when WILDing can be rather strong and disturbing. If you do move upon them, however, you might have trouble to WILD again. If you really want to WILD again after ceasing your attempt, then spend soem time awake first.

WILDing before bed is possible. But the trouble with doing it is getting to the right mindset.

When you do WBTB, you will wake up in the right mindstate already; but if you don't, then some meditation or brainstorming will lead you there.

If, when you go to bed, you feel restless, then don't worry about WILD now: maintain all your thoughts, and brainstorm all you want, until you feel calm and restful (in a really "zen" state). Once at it, you're ready to WILD.

Ready, do the known WILD steps and your body will slowly get heavier and heavier. Do not move, but do not force you not to move either. You should be feeling so comfortable that you don't want to move. Forcing yourself to stay still will prevent you from moving on.

After going deeper in your WILD, the vibrations will come up. They will involve any kind of hallucination. Just watch them passively, and they will eventually end. When they do finish, your body will feel unusually numb: welcome to Sleep Paralysis.

Knowing the right time to move, once in Sleep Paralysis, takes trial and error. Notice, however, that you could be already in a dream. Try to move when you feel ready to. If you manage to move your body, then it is more likely that you did succeed in your attempt, and are actually moving your Dream Body, than otherwise. In any case, try a Reality Check after every WILD attempt, no matter if you think it was unsuccessful.

All said, best of luck on your next attempt

thank you for more advice on wilding on initial sleep Kromoh!

Clarity, wow that article shows me I was oh so very close to lucid dreaming! after the sliding down the bed sensation stopped I felt a want to open my eyes but I thought I was still awake. I was probably in dream state but because my mind resisted my body jolted awake! it makes sense now!

      Wow...

I tried WILDing afew times last week and it felt like the same thing happened to me. I wish I would have known it then. I had some hallucinations then it all stopped and I felt the sleep paralysis, after that I too wanted to open my eyes but I tried not to. It felt like I failed so I woke up, but I might have had it. But surprisingly I'm excited about this instead of mad that I failed. I'm going to try it this week again(oh yeah, and I too was doing it without the WBTB part, i just went straight to bed and it started working). But I can't do it tonight because my stepbrothers are over, in my room. Last time I tried wilding in there, every time one of them rustled in thier bed the sound distracted me.
