Worth trying WILD in early stages?

Hey. Is the WILD technique worth trying for a newbee like myself? I've been trying to have lucid dreams for a couple of months now. The last month i've been trying MILD just about every night. Should i wait with WILDs until later or do you think i can handle it ? I red in Stephen LaBerge's book ("Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming") that WILDs are fairly hard to master.

Yea go for it. WILD is basicly just laying around untill you fall sleep. Don't need to know a single thing about dreaming to try it.

It can be hard for some people but there isn't any way to tell if that will be the case for you, except for trying it. And then the only way to get better is to try it more often.

The only reason why I would say not to try it, is if your getting lucid dreams all the time from the MILD. In that case might as go with what works.

Yeah go ahead and try it. The only thing I suggest you do though is to read extensively or at least the basics so you know exactly what to do.

Yes try it! Maybe it will be easy for you. Seems it is for some people.

It is definately something every lucid dreamer should experience!

I think I understand WILD but I'm not sure. My version is maybe different.

I'm lying in my bed, getting very relaxed. I silence my mind and try to concentrate. After a while, I get hypnagogic imagery. It slowly gets more and more realistic. I am drifting into a dream. It gets more elaborate and I start to get convinced that the thing that I am imagining is real.

Take, for example, that I am playing soccer. I start to really feel like I'm playing it. I see the opponents and try to outwit them. The ball almost hits me so my head physically twitches on my bed. This sudden movement brings me back to the real world, where I realise that I am dreaming. But I drift again deeper and deeper.

The task is to try to hold onto consciousness, and to remain aware that the images before me are dreams.

I have done this. But I have always lost it and drifted off into a dream which I never remember. I will of course keep trying.

Am I practising the WILD technique? I need someone to confirm! Thanks! 8)

By the way, I find this process alot easier if there is some familiar background noise which reminds you that you're home ( - for me its my mother pottering about in the kitchen).

I think's thats a WILD, or at least some form of it. Do you feel sleep paralysis? If you do then it's WILD. If you haven't then it's either that you're not doing WILD or you just haven't gone far enough.

You don't have to feel sleep paralysis to do a WILD, and yes what you said is a WILD. By the sounds of it your doing really good too. The two biggest problems with WILD is you either never fall asleep or you fall asleep to fast.

Your falling asleep but it sounds like your getting very close to being in the dream.

Sorry, my bad. I always thought that sleep paralysis was one of those requirements/signs in entering a WILD state.

It can be a sign but doesn't have to be. If your trying to do an OOB though then I think you need it.
