A step forward, but to MILD or DILD?

Last night I almost became lucid. I mean I should have but for some reason I did not realise it was a dream! I think one of my dreamsigns is that surroundings I know e.g. my school (crops up a lot), or my house changes but I do not realise this in my dreams. Anyway last night I had a dream about becoming lucid. Here's the extract from my dream journal: I'm lying on a small footrest in a room with doors on each of the four walls. I am trying to get to sleep and I am using a Lucid Dreaming Induction technique. A wierd feeling comes over me (much like the wave in sleep paralysis) and I think to myself: This is it! I'm lucid! (I remember a second of being lucid) In my dream I lose it though, it comes back for a second. Blackout. (Blackout is my way of signaling the end of a dream of a period of time gone by in a dream) The reason I wanted to ask if it was a MILD or DILD is because I now go to sleep listening to a recording of me saying I will realise I'm in a dream etc. which is MILD technique (I find the recording easier to concentrate on than saying it in my head) but I did this extract after having my first dream which was about my school which is DILD techinique.

      Thanks for the help

Altair, there is no contradiction between a MILD and DILD. MILD is simply a technique that helps the odds that you will have a DILD.
So you used the MILD technique, and you had a Dream Initiated Lucid Dream ( DILD ).

I hope this is clear enough, if not, feel free to ask. : )

Oh, thank you It was only for a second though. I did only just realise as I was writing that my surroundings changing is a dreamsign for me, as it always happens.
