Becoming lucid out of the blue?

K so i have only had two LD's recently, and both of them have been DILD's. Except for both of them, i didnt do reality checks to see if i was dreaming, or see something out of the ordinary for that matter.

I am just dreaming and all of the sudden clear as day i think, im dreaming. I dont even bother checking my reality because im positive. I dont feel like there is any rationalization or reasoning to it at all, its as if someone else who is not there, just told me i am dreaming. Is there an explanation for this?
      Lucid Goals:
[ ] have four lucid dreams in one week
[X] be able to fly in a lucid dream
[ ] complete a lucid task of the month
      [ ] have a conversation with my own sub-conscious

      Lucid count: 11 Dild

It's just something silly that your brain notices and either doesn't really tell you or you forgot. Like for me, the light shining oddly on the wall or something did it. But about an hour ago, I had a lucid nap with a trigger I don't remember... So that could be what you are getting?

I've had that too. It just randomly popped in to my head that I was dreaming. The weird thing is there even wasn't anything supernatural or strange in that dream. It was very realistic.

That is how I got 90% of my lucid dreams (I have more than 3, it's just I've only started counting again from Saturday). I just realize I'm dreaming. I usually reality check to make sure I'm dreaming. In fact, one time my reality check showed me I was awake and I missed a chance to LD..... I think a couple other dreams I realized because something was wierd.

Yeh some people can just automatically turn lucid without trying to during their dreams. Althought it usually only happens after a considerable amount of practice, some people can do it almost instinctively.

HOWEVER, I recommend you do a quicky reality check before you try to do anything fancy ... like jump off your balcony

Or if you dont like doing reality checks, just try hovering above the floor for sometime ... that works just as well.

haha yea that would be hard to explain:

Paramedic: "son, what the hell were you thinking?"
Me: "Well, i was almost positive i was dreaming..."

A couple years back I had a dream where the walls in my room were caving in on me and the door was crashing down too so i needed a way to get out - I smashed my way through a glass window pane into the backyard. Everything then hazed into reality and i was outside bleeding with glass in my leg and arms.

Trust me, it was hard to convince the emergency ward that i wasnt on some crazy drugs.

that would be me, i could do it EVERY time. my dreams are to weird though, not sure i would want to be lucid in them. i should try it sometime anyway. i could even post some examples of my dreams. they wouldn't make much sense though my dreams are totally random. and never the same.

That must have been a pretty scary dream Swank if it caused you to break through a glass window to get out to your back yard while you were sleep walking, without even waking up until you were out in your back yard.

I dreamed that I was driving my van home from work one night when I suddenly encountered a blazing snow storm.

After struggling to keep my van in the road for quite a while I suddenly realized I was dreaming, so just leaned back in my seat, folded my arms, and let the van drive itself, all the while thinking to myself "I sure hope I'm dreaming."

My van did not drive itself very well though as it went bouncing from one curb to the other all the way down the hill.

Yup, my dild and lots of other quick awakenings after becoming lucid always had a reality check that was totally out of the blue, just random. My only dild was induced when i was on some sort of raised platform outside with flowers and stuff, and i suddenly realized i was dreaming just randomly as i was walking or something. and pretty much all of my almost Lds were like that. i never said to myself 'hey im flying i must be dreaming!,' it was more like (randomly) 'hey im dreaming!'. Also i had a dream where i was explaining to my friend that RCs dont do anything in your dream unless you really get conscious and focused, oddly enough i did not become lucid while saying that (i even remember looking around too be aware of my surroundings and i still didnt LD). i'm getting the impression Reality Checks dont really work.

Yeah my whole experience was very strange, I still get kind of scared Im going to wake up hurting myself or something but since that window thing I've been fine.

Haha Id make sure I do a reality check 3 times before doing that, my chances are Im not dreaming, a cow with wings really did fly past and Im actually about to kill myself!

Most of my DILDS are out-of-the-blue... Just all of the sudden I realize I'm dreaming.

In fact, last night was the FIRST night I recognized a dreamsign... I've been trying for so long and finally got it. I was so excited over that fact that I woke myself out of lucidity.

This morning, I had what I think was my first lucid dream. I was at the food court at the mall looking for a couple of family members who had gone shopping with me. I couldn't find them, but all of a sudden, it popped into my head that I was dreaming. I didn't feel any sort of rush or "wave" of energy wash over me (my brother has had two lucids and that's what happened to him both times), I just knew I was dreaming. Naturally, I wanted to find somebody in the crowd to have sex with. The only problem was, there were too many people, and I tried too hard to focus on the crowd as a whole rather than going through and noticing each person there individually, so I woke up before I ever found anyone.

It's odd, really. The thought of having a lucid dream excites me while I'm awake, but I didn't "feel" excited when I was actually dreaming. Now that I think about it, I didn't feel particularly lucid either. I suppose I could have just dreamed about being lucid, rather than actually becoming lucid...

^^Sounds similar to what I get... I've had dreamsign induced LD's before but usually I just think "this is a dream".
My theory is that because you've been reality checking (or even thinking about ld'ing a lot, although it's not as reliable), you wonder in your dream if you're dreaming - and sometimes that's all it takes. I mean, when you think to check, dreams feel pretty different from real life, right?
I've never actually completed a reality check in my dream that I can remember - not until after I've realised I'm dreaming and just want to back it up.

It happens to me too, I mean the dream would be ral life if it wasn't a dream

Anyway, for example I'm walking down the street to school and just out of nothing I think "I'm dreaming YEAH" and then I get all excited and it last a few minutes before waking up. But its funny because the weird things happen after I notice I'm dreaming.
