Been a week and a bit...

That's how long i've been trying to improve my dream recall and get a lucid dream. Now, I know it isn't very long yet, but i'm seeing little improvment. I've tried a few different techniques and the only one that i've made any progress with is when I set my alarm for a few times in the night; I tend to remember my dreams then. But I would really prefer to be able to sleep hrough the night and still remember my dreams, is this achievable? Also, will working on my dream recall and reality checks be enough to get a lucid dream?

I've also been working on my dream recall and trying to have a LD for about a week also. My dream recall has drastically improved. I went from remembering portions of a dream every now and then, to remembering 3 dreams last night. I started a dream journal, which it sounds like you started also.

Everynight before i go to sleep, I lay in bed and say to myself [or outloud] "tonight i am going to dream. I will remember my dreams in the morning" I say it a few times, sort of like a mantra. i really concentrate on the words and the meaning. So far, thats really helped.

As far as becoming lucid, i havnt had any luck so far.

I'm in the same boat as you megg, I've been working at it for a couple of weeks, possibly three, and my dream recall has improved drastically (1 per weekish to 2-3 per night). I've only had one lucid which went for a few seconds but it got me motivated. I wonder though if maybe I should have had more success as I keep reading about people who heard about it last week or something and have achieved a decent LD already. Meh, different rates for different people

I always go off on completely different tangents...anyway yeah i do the same thing as megg if I'm not attempting an induction technique.

There is no 'sleeping through the night' - you wake up regardless, you just never remember it in the morning. By not remembering your awakenings, you therefore don't recall the dreams. Dreams are recalled when you lie still and quickly 'recap' your dream just after waking up. You don't always have to write down the dreams that happen in the middle of the night, but you should try to stay up for a few minutes and replay them in your head.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I don't have a dream journal where I write a narrative of my dream, but I do write down plot points as soon as I wake up.

It's funny, but before I started that, I would remember my dreams pretty well, though only sporadically. Now, I have to lay in bed after each awakening and concentrate on remembering what happened, because as soon as I wake up I forget. Luckily, I'm usually able to drag it out of my subconscious if I try right away.

I had 3 or so lucids one morning about a week after joining this site. Really low level and very short. But every night I'm so hyped about going to sleep, and every night I try one technique or another. Maybe I should just stick to one. I can feel vibrations when I wild, but I can't get any farther than that.

I wish I could do this regularly. Soon, hopefully.
