      the pains of involuntary actions

      Hey,
I find that several times I come very close to going into sleep paralysis during a WILD
but it has not been successful yet because I can't help but swallow periodically throughout the whole meditative process. Doing this completely destroys the familiar effects of sleep paralysis.
so far I've only been able to do WBTB or DILD, but I'd like to use the WILD approach

      How often is "periodically?"

Try practicing ignoring it. I swallow a bunch of times a day but I never think about it when it happens. The same applies for me during a WILD.

I'm not sure if you've tried this or not, but it works for me pretty consistently: put a towel under your chin so it tilts your head up and eliminates the need to physically swallow
"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to walk from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where—" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you walk," said the Cat.
"—so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "If only you walk long enough."

seriously....that sounds really cool, I"ll have to try the towel thing.

I've tried ignoring it...if I'm doing absolutely nothing, just concentrating on my breathing I start to notice every involuntary action that I do...and it's all sounds like a thunderstorm due to body conduction and all that
some things help...I start to feel and hear my heart beat...and apart from being far far too fast, it's still a hypnotizing rhythm...
but the swallowing thing...that's the only thing I find gets in my way, and it's pretty frustrating
