Vibrating wristwatches would work better. Phones vibrate too much and I think would wake you up. |

I recently read EWOLD and I remember reading the chapter where Dr. Stephan was trying to use external cues to induce lucidity. I recall him using a vibrator on the ankle to remind the subject to do a reality check. However he didn't talk about it very much after he introduced the DreamLight invention. I got to thinking about this and I realized that most people have a device that will vibrate after a set amout of time, a cellphone. Without having to spend money on a DreamLight I think I could set my phone to vibrate at random time during the day each time performing an RC. Then when night rolls around I set the phone in 90min intervals to catch me in a dream, in a perfect world I'd feel this in the dream interpret it as my phone and become lucid when I do an RC. At the very least I think this could be a good way to increase RC frequancy. What do you think? |

Just don't roll over onto your cell phone and crush it. Plus I'd rather use a watch. |

my fone is useful for this cuz if u turn the volume off and set an alarm, it will turn on a light but the light will go out after a while, so if i put it facing me during the night, all i hav to do is estimate wen im in REM correctly, then hopefully it will help with lucidity like the dream light thing. |

I'd be interested in hearing reports from anyone who tries this. |

I did this the day I posted. I set my timer about every 30min and did a reality check each time it went of so I did a bunch more than I usually do. At night I went to bed at about 10:30 but I didn't have much luck. I don't think I slept very well because it was cold this morning and because of that I think I was easier to wake up than normal. My timer kept waking me up. There is still hope however I think if it does get me up it I could probably come a way with a deild. More to come |

So you started the phone when you first went to sleep? Why not try a WBTB instead? Set it for 5-10 minutes from when you think you'll go unconscious. You'll probably have better luck. I might try this this weekend if I don't succeed at WILD tonight. |

In dreams of unspeakable joy—of restored friendships; of revived embraces; of love which said it had never died; of faces that had vanished long ago, yet said with smiling lips that they knew nothing of the grave; of pardons implored, and granted with such bursting floods of love, that I was almost glad I had sinned—thus I passed through this wondrous twilight. —George MacDonald

The vibrating watch did exactly what I thought it would do. I felt it in the dream, caused me to do a reality check and I went lucid. It was also mild enough to not wake me up, I'm wearing on my ankle from now on. |

Holly crap! I have to get one of those now. What kind of sleeper are you do you sleep really heavy or what and what is the brand of the watch that you used? My phone was nice for reminding me to do rc's but it kept on waking me up. On a side note I had a dream about buying a vibrating watch, this lady tried to sell me one for like $700 and it pissed me off because there was no way I was going to fork over that kind of money for a watch. |

Well, lucky for you they aren't 700 dollars, you can get one at walmart of 35. I'm a light sleeper so it's gentle enough to not wake you up. The brand is Pathfinder. |
|
Thanks I'll have to try it out. |
