      Brightness while doing WILD

When your doing a WILD, have you ever had everything just get brighter? Its not from a light or the sun or anything. Just laying there then it gets brighter for a few minutes some times when it does can start seeing some stuff swirling around and stuff. Doesn't last that long though and always stops. Some times I also feel vibrations though normally its not very much.

Its pretty annoying because every time it happens I think HI will start, or that I am getting closer to the dream but it ends up stopping and nothing happens.

Well, some people have swirling images for hypnagogic imagery, not me though. As far as the vibrations, been there, done that. I think it's the body entering sleep paralysis, wouldn't know because I always fall asleep.

well, sometimes i go into white light, and other times i have no hypnogognic imagery and must open my eyes into a dream.. which can take me a good half hour to figure out at times.. sometimes i become sleep paralysed more then other times.. (i used to be a sleepwalker and still have that problem once in awile while WILDing)

Well when I say swirling stuff its almost not even noticeable. Its like black stuff moving around on a black background.

I have that too. Have you tried concentrating on it? Sometimes if I concentrate on it, an image will appear and I'll hear someone talking or music playing or something, although usually that wakes me up.

This probably isnt the same, but I think i get something like yours, but dont get it from attempting WILD's although it may be possible

Anyway sometimes when I close my eyes ill get this brightness aswell. It reminds me of a machine though. At first the bright light outlines my field of vision(aka my eye), then it gets closer and closer to the center of my eye and then the light dissappears altogether. Then the light outlines my eye again and gets closer to the center of my eye again. it keeps doing this for a while to. this doesnt always happen though. usually before i go to bed and when i look at the empty black void behind my eyelids

not sure if this is HI though, or if this happens to everyone...

I get that as well too, except from what I read on the tutorials, I thought it was important to not focus too much on HI. And if you do that will ultimately keep you awake. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as the image swirling, happens to me whenever I try to WILD. Followed by what I think is sleep paralysis; I lose all feeling in my body, but if I try to move I still can, just the urge to move is supressed. Then its followed by more HI, and sometimes obscure noises?? Then I end up opening my eyes thinking I'm in a dream but I'm still awake.

Practice makes perfect, and it helps not getting discouraged as well
I think if I focus more on attaining good dream recall, before trying to WILD, that would help a lot. A dreamlog would also be useful Need to find those damned dreamsigns.. *sigh*

I feel that same thing but it isn't sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is when you can't move at all. Feeling I get is kind of like your body gets heavy and kind of stiff, but you can still easily move any part of your body.

Mine doesn't really get heavy, lighter if anything. And I wouldn't be able to tell if it was stiff because I basically lose feeling everywhere besides my brain
I'm not sure what it is then if it's not sleep paralysis, any ideas?

I have seen extremely bright light in front of me once when I was trying to WILD. It appeared to be the source of the vibrations, so I visualized myself flyinjg into it. Worked really well!

Personally, my sleep paralysis doesn't completely prevent me from moving ... it just makes it a mammoth task of effort to move.
I get the feeling of heaviness though... not sure about being lighter ??

Besides, eagle, you said that you have had a sleepwalking experience once before. That might indicate that the chemicals responsible for SP in your body may not be working 100%

Yeah, I don't get vivid HI either. In order to get it I have to touck my eyelids, and it doesn't last long. It's just like an uneven backround, and I rarely ever get HS or SP.

I also have that "false" SP, where it takes an unusual amount of will to move...that might be pre-SP, you know. I have only felt the vibrations once, when I lost a dream.

EDIT: Last night while trying to WILD, I saw a very bright white light, which when I tried to move to it brought me deeper into the WILD. Then I lost it, and when I opened my eyes (Had been trying for two hours, sick of it.) my clock was a few feet away... Maybe my brain caught the faint glow through my eyelids and threw up a light?
