      SP

So ive read all over this forum and it seems some people get terrifying SP experiences and others get nothing.

I've tried WILDs when waking up after 5 or so hours but havent been able to.Thing is that im fairly certain i felt SP before and it was the worst experience ive ever felt. Now if you HAVE to SP in order to WILD or Lucid at all, how am i going to do it.

The more i read, the more i dont want to attempt WILDS as if i get SP and feel that feeling again, aside from the fact ill be in way too much panic to possibly remain calm, ill never want to do it again. Is there some way to calm that SP feeling? Because so many people post on here that the WILD experiences are so good and nothing scary comes out of it, but then theres the people like me that seem to have their SP draw out everything that you fear in your mind.

So, for those of you who can ride through SP, is there some certain thoughts you're thinking, a certain mindset, or mentality, because if that feeling comes back, ill never be able to approach SP again.

What "feeling" exactly do you mean? How many SPs have you had?

SP experiences vary. Mindset is most important. Positive, calm, relaxed.

I've had one in my life, when i was 9. It was so bad i have never forgotten it.

I felt like i was choking, very heavy pressure on my chest, and my heartbeat was very fast, i could hear it in my head as loud as a drummer, and i couldnt move. As you can imagine it was horrible. Im 99% that was SP, as it sounds exactly like what people describe SP as.

So seeing as thats the only example of it i have, you can understand why im slightly afraid to attempt something that puts me back into that situation.

Believe me you could be 30 and that would still scare the shit out of you.
There was nothing "fun" about that at all.

Choking feels the same whatever age you are.

Your Memory is an amazing thing but the thing with it is, there is research to suggest that memories are only what happened in your mind when you last remembered them so over the years when you have remembered that experiance it has Gradualy got worse and worse as you remembered it. It wont be as bad as the first time like with anything its never as extreme. Just go for it.

I've experienced something similar to this. I remember that I was trying to move some object or a person that was trying to crush my chest in my bed. I thought I had an infarct. It was painful but then almost as same unpleasant experience was a full body SP. You know, it feels like someone is lying on you. Freaking scary.

Have you experienced it before and had nothing happen? I know all this reading about this isn't helping me to avoid feeling it.

I had the most unpleasant ones before I knew about any theory of lucid dreaming but I knew that SP was more or less a natural happening that can occur once in a while - for example paralysed hand is very common.

The last one I had it was ten months ago, I woke up with my whole arm paralysed swinging above me, I almost found it funny because I knew exactly what was happening. I don't know how big impact it has on LDing but it has more to do with a vascular system.

The method WILD is the best simply because it's the easiest one. The negative side is that it can be connected with vivid nightmares at least afaik. I would suggest you to sleep at least 6 hours, not less, and be awake at least 30 minutes and walk out of the bed.
