      Need some tips and pointers

Alright, I have great dream recall, I could tell you very detailed what I dreamed about last night, and sometimes I have lucid dreams. Not very often though, when I do I often realize it's a dream and fear there will be a monster that kills me and It does. Everytime I have a nightmare or a bad dream (bad dreams 8/10 nights), say a monster kills me and it casues great pain, I go lucid enough to realize that it's a dream before it gets ugly and I have no issues to wake myself up by controling my eyelids. I need some tips on how to become lucid and staying that way. I have never practised becoming lucid so any tips are welcome.

      Thanks

      There is only one way:

      Turn round and fight.

If (when) you win you will be lucid.

Actually I've tried that ,once I beat him with a metal rod over and over and dodged his attacks but It had no effect, until he got a hold of me and broke my spine (god that was painful) sometimes the monster turns into black energy and I just die, im gonna try though

Wow bad dreams 8/10 nights? I haven't had a dream I would consider "unpleasant" in months. Frustrating, sure. Strange, definitely. But I think you're unlucky to have bad dreams so often! Maybe watch less horror movies before bed lol.

I really don't know how to help you either since my dream control absolutely sucks when I'm scared in a dream. The fear makes me doubt my abilities unfortunately

However, if you have better control, the normal prolongation tricks should work for you. Like staring at your hands, focusing on surroundings etc.

Instead of fighting, why not just run away? Create a portal and get as far away as you can and enjoy the rest of your dream

is that such a good idea? i mean, if your scared of something you need to take care of it (as in kill it or solve it).

i wish i could be of more help but i would say get better at lucid dreaming (which we all do) so you can zap it it or something.

Why wouldn't it be a good idea? Its not real life, it will go away as soon as you believe it's gone. Wishing it out of existence would work too, if you can.

Fighting is not the only solution.. running away or making it poof is a solution too

Well, these bad dreams are not neccesarily that bad, just a dream that involves my death caused by a bad character often with pain. I usually play dead and then it leaves me alone then I will wake myself up. Once I was chased by ostrige, tried to fight back but I was disoriented as if I was high on drugs and it ate me. I also once was stuck in a ring with a dinosaur, kind of like the monster from strar wars. Like this
I was unable to kill it, unable to wake up, lucid, and very much in pain! I rarley have really bad dreams that frighten me though...

Nightmares I have practice with. One thing I learned that might work is this: Create a superhero.

Yes, a superhero. Give him/her a name, face, ability, ect. An ability that relates to your more than often nightmare. For example, my nightmares usually involves zombies. So my superhero is a gun, machete wielding expert hunter. Corny yes, but as soon as those zombie come, my hero comes in, kicks ass, and then leaves me to become lucid again or enjoy watching my hero do her thing. It's really quite cool.

I got a DILD tonight! I don't use any techniques, but when dreams involve pain/death/killing I realize it's a dream. So I did, I was in an old british castle
and I was in this room. I killed a person, wen't lucid, the alarm went and I had to wake myself up. I do this by pretending to be dead, then I try to blink exessivley, and after a while my real eyelids blink and I wake up. I woke up and re-entered sleep and was in the exact same scenario, as it it was a new chance. I was not lucid. A guy told me I had to gert rid of everyone. As twisted as my mind is the first thing I did was take a silver sword of the wall and chopped a horses head off, then pushed it out of the window down several stories. I then went lucid, I wouldn't kill a horse. I went out and said loud, I am having a lucid dream. Ok what now? I remembered rubbing my hands, it worked suprisingly well. I was lucid tried to change the scenario, I knew I couldn't and therefor I couldn't. More people came into the room and I knew they would realize I was an intruder, and when they did I would have to wake myself up, so as they came in, I cut their heads off and threw them out of the window. Anything to remain lucid Last I missed with the sword, but I tosed it and it caught her eye as she was running. Last there came a person and she saw my nice throw then she sounded the alarm. Soldiers came, I was lucid but not in control. I had to abort, used my blink technique. Everytime something scary or someone dies, monsters or pain are involved, I go lucid, though withouth control. I get these kind of dreams 8/10 nights. So I go lucid a short period most nights, just enough to wake myself up. Though this night I managed to stay lucid for longer then usual

When I was a kid, I had lots of lucid nightmares. But I eventually developed techniques that made me stop having them. At first, I did like you, I shut my eyes, and woke myself up willingly. But my technique might sound crazy, but it worked for me.

      Here is what I did:

      I befriended my monsters.

When it was just about to attack me or eat me or whatever, I would ask: "Will you be my friend?" For a long time, I would wake up right after asking the question, and even though I knew I was dreaming, I didn't feel safe. As a few years passed, I was successful in stopping the monsters by requesting to be their friends, and I also learned that nothing in dreams can hurt me. I was maybe 5-6 when I stopped having nightmares on a regular basis.

Also, if you expect the dream monsters to attack you and be evil, they will. If you manage to break that expectation, and believe that you can make the monsters harmless, they will.

I hope this helps, or at least makes sense.
