i've been programming a lot lately, and it's made my mind more active, even when i sleep. lucid dreaming happened accidently this morning after i turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. it lasted for an hour.
while i was lucid, i figured i'd try as many things as possible. i want to test not just physical sensations. my goals are to do things normally difficult in lucid dreaming. i did a lot of these successfully this morning.
i focused closely on a very small object (a screw head) for as long as i could, without everything going black. i then noticed the grains in some fake-wood lamenent.
the most interesting thing was when i found a small mirror in my pocket, similar to my wife's mirror. after seeing my reflection awhile, the world around me became clearer when i looked away. similar to looking at our hands, perhaps seeing something very familiar is a way to keep our mind's eye awake. the mirror was always very clear when i looked in.
i drove my car through town, which for some reason slowed the dream down and made it feel more comfortable. (i often have a problem of moving too fast in anxiety, to keep my mind active.) i had time to think and yet my attention was on the road, so that the dream did not fade.
so, i recommend trying these things. it's also my goal to write, and do other things i've heard aren't possible because of the instability of the dreamworld. already i have written or typed a few sentences and remembered them on waking. i think we can do that. i think we can do a lot of creative things and bring them into the waking world.
