This type of thing is typically used in post-hypnotic suggestions, where the hypnotist gives the command that "your subconscious mind will.... etc".

Frankly, I'm not sure if the subconscious mind even exists. The illusion most people have is that they are conscious. The bottom line is that we are trying to reprogram the brain to produce LDs, which means that neural circuits must be reprogrammed. Calling it "subconscious mind" or a "coordinated cluster of Purkinje cells" may be the same thing. It probably doesn't really matter. The important thing is to focus attention on the task of reprogramming "it", whatever "it" may be, and if calling "it" by a name focuses attention on "it" so much the better. Ha !!! Now you've got me going off the deep end. Looney tunes, indeed. Whatever works...
ooops. And some of us *( ) are LOONEY and quick to jump to conclusions! Sorry about that.

About the subconscious. I think you make a good point. It is more likely all one unit. We just ironically call it.... a name

This technique makes me think of Philip Pullman's amazing trilogy "His Dark Materials," in which people have daemons that are an externalized part of themselves. The daemons take the shape of animals who match the essence of the character. The main characters have very close relationships with their daemons and talk to them all the time. When reading the book. I thought of daemons as the soul, but in many ways the subconscious makes more sense. I will try this!
