      How do a newbie stay lucid?

      Hi yīall!

      I only have 8-12 LDīs a year But Iīm always aware of them and know that I'm dreaming.
      But after a minute or so, I get the feeling of some sort of pressure on mye eyes and that they are closed (not in the Dream of course) and wanting to open. And each time that this happens i go "OOOH no! I aint gonna wake up from ths again!" and then the whole dream go black and....I awake, fully aware of my failure

      I have tried the "spinning" once, but couldnīt manage
      Any help out there?

      i prefer to rub my hands than to spin.

      what happens is that you are aware you are dreaming, so you naturally start to get the sensations of your waking body back (eyes closed). so when you rub your hands, it focuses your mind on the sensations in the dream again.

      Yes, rubbing my hands works really well for me.

      Another technique is to examine an object within the dream. Look at its details, feel its texture and weight.

      Basically, try to concentrate on the dream, and don't fret over waking up. It will make you wake up faster.

      aah, that makes sense. I think that will help me stay lucid, but when I´m dreaming I feel like I only have semi-control over myself. I´ve never wandered around in the dreamworld,only tried to open a door, and I awakened before i managed to do so! If I can't perform such easy actions, how will I manage to rub my hands etc.?

      How do I attain full control over my dream?

      I think it just takes time. In my first few lucids, I didn't have full control of myself. Now, I have (I think) amazing control. Also, don't rush into whatever you want to do. Take your time and ground your lucidity (using the techniques in the previous reply).

      u can grab on to something in the lucid dream, that might work!
      Whenever your thinking, just remember thoughts become things.
      Current goals:
      -Drive a Ferrari 458 { }
      -Go to a different plant { }
      -Street race with different cars { }
      -Kiss Megan Fox { }

      if you close your eyes and feel you are going to wake up ask a DC(dream character) to open your eyes that worked for me the other night.

      I like kneeling, examining my surroundings, and shouting "Clarify!" or something similar. Has worked wonders for me.

      yeah, i would go with sean and slow down. just rub your hands and examine your surroundings. personally, i don't keep saying to myself, "YEAH IM DREAMING." i notice it, and realize i can do what i want, and then don't really think about me dreaming. this keeps me in the dream longer. the downside of that is you can lose lucidity. but i think you should focus on staying in the dream now rather than maintaining lucidity.

      Well, for me, I find that rubbing other objects is more effective than rubbing my hands. Find a book or...granite or something. Something with a lot of complex texture.
      For example, a few nights ago I realized I was dreaming and thinks started to fade. Luckily, there was a weird dream plant near by that I ran my fingers over repeatedly, making sure to keep telling myself, "it feels so real!". My dream came sharply back into focus within seconds.

      Wow, thanks for good answers.

      But how do i manage to focus on something like examining the surroundings and remeber all the hints and tips to stay lucid? I mean, I'm half asleep, its hard!
      Any techniques to do before i go to sleep or something?

      well, actually you are fully asleep. just make a plan and go over it in your head before you fall asleep. tell yourself that after you are lucid you need to take a breath and look at your hands or rub them or something. this will help you remember it in your dream. it can be hard. it depends on how lucid you are. if you think about it enough in waking life, it will come easier in a lucid dream.
