      Sleeping Posititons?

this thread can be answered very simply, but as i was taking an afternoon nap i wondered if there was a POSITION to sleep in that would help me to either gain lucidity easier[which is unlikely], or just more relaxing...

I read somewhere that if you sleep on your back then it might be easier. Im not sure for that. It might be the case for Astral Projection and not dreaming

I sleep on my stomach too. I might start out on my back, but I don't think I've ever fallen asleep on my back..and I've experienced lucid dreams. I think it's all a matter of personal preference. I just like having my face/eyes closer to the pillow where it feels to be darker, and I feel like I can fall asleep easier that way.

It also might have to do with the fact when I was younger, I use to think you'd go inside your pillows when you had dreams..and I might have an unconcious comfort to sleeping like that...But that's a WHOLE 'nother story. LOL

This may sound silly, but I found that position seems to play a part in the more advanced stuff.

I had several, re-occuring experiences (while in the Marines stationed in Viet Nam, back in the spring of 70.) I found that lying flat on my back, no pillow, arms to the side, feet full out, made the difference between sleep and waking sleep (and OOB.)

It's not that comfortable for me anymore, but it still seems that most of the lucid experiences happen when I'm on my back. (With a pillow now of course. At my age, a good nights sleep is far more important than creating new worlds to explore :-)

      Best wishes for 2004

:yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: Welcome enigma-2! :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum:

I've always hear on your back, or right side. However, I have had some very lucid episodes on my left side.

You were in Nam? It's nice to have someone else here from the baby-boomer generation. Although I was a few years too young to be in Nam, I had some friends that did a few tours there!

      Welcome Vet!!!!!

dunno. i can pretty well only fall asleep when on my right side; i've never fallen asleep on my back or stomach.
Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

I dont know for sure if the sleeping position really matters. The best is to sit up I think if you belief it does. I can fall asleep in half lotus if I want ^_^ Then I astral project from meditation sometimes. Its really useful, im working on it so I can do it everyday , so I can LD at night and during the afternoon lol

fall asleep sitting up! woah thats crazy. i dont want to even try, but i see your point; through meditation you can project to the astral plane.

Yea, thats pretty intense. I'm mostly a belly sleeper, but sides are doable. Im an all-round sleeper except for laying on the back basically.

I have a lot of LD and I allways sleep on my back, and wake up in the same position...I can't sleep in any other position anymore becaose I have back problems then....!

But I had LD in all poses (normal poses)...

I think that's the best tread to post it in...
I found myself in a really weird position this morning - I was laying on my back, and right half of my body elevated (kinda like this → / ).

I was too still very sleepy, but suddenly I heard very strange sound - like

beeping mixed with clicking or something. I concentrated on it, and

thought it may be the OBE sign. Suddenly I felt an energy wave flow

through my body. It felt like I was a jar and energy filled me like water.

Then it passed. I laid still. Then it came again and again - total of 3 times.

I concentrated on it, and expected an OBE, but then I realized that I'm

laying in weird position and moved myself. Nothing happened next...

Might it be some kind of OBE sign ?
