      help, can't do it.. :(

Whenever I try WILDing, it seems like nothing is happening or going to happen. I wake up about 4 hours after I go to sleep and stay awake for probably more than an hour and not go to sleep or feel those feelings that people say is right before the dream (Sleep paralysis?)

I also sleep with my window open and focus on the crikets outside, since there is never any cars outside, i don't think it could be because of noise.

Is there anything else I can try to help me get in an LD?

Srry if its confusing, I just woke up like 3 hours before I usually do

A little bit, I can usually tell if I'm about to fall asleep soon or if it is going to take an hour.

I had a Lucid last night with earplugs in and no sound.
I used a rubber wrist band around my palm as an anchor only.

and in regards to your thread heading remember "I think...therefore I am"

well i waited till the last possible second when i was about to drop off into sleep, then i started counting every other breath until i lost count (which sadly was only 5) but when i lost count i started visualizing myself runnning out my back door and around to the front of my house but try to feel every footfall and weight shift as you turn corners

Arg, I totally forgot about that, I shouldve put "haven't had an LD yet"

Maybe I'll try something solid like what you did tonight, but for me it is VERY hard to go to sleep if I am even a tiny bit uncomfortable

      I'll try

k, that was my first LD lol but it worked surprisingly well cause that was the first time i had tried that technique, sadly enough i didnt let SP go on long enough because i was only half lucid, i could sense my physical body as well as my dream body.

how long have you been trying to LD. I think it might be because I've only been trying for 2 days...

and just so you know, i didnt actually fall asleep, just try to get completely comfortable right off the bat and dont move, even if you feel a little buzz of uncomfortableness (im sure you know what im talking about cause im the same way) just dont move force yourself to stay still but dont tense up while doing it. you should go straight from being awake and thinking to basically feeling like you should open your eyes so you will and i was in my bed exactly like i had been but there was another one of my body in the bed next to me so i did an RC

okay, that helps because I usually move alot, and i try my hardest not to but I really have to move, I guess I'll just try harder to not move...

Edit- yeah, I think its just that I need more time to practice... I just remembered, I think I DID have an LD last night, I remember something weird going on in my room, but I was stupid and didnt rc... Ugh

yea, just remember that you dont have to fall asleep, that was the biggest hurdle for me was i would try to get comfortable enough to fall asleep but all you have to do is keep your body still and once you get past SP and into a dream your body will naturally sleep without you even noticing the discomfort, plus the discomfort could also be another method for you to WILD, you could try just focusing slightly on the discomfort so it keeps your mind awake

Wouldn't recommending going straight to WILD first.
Like running before you can walk.
Start with setting your alarm for awakenings during the night and ask yourself have i dreamt yet.
You will then know when your REM starts. A key to know when to wake and try methods.
I recommend starting with DEILD's. An easier way to start out.
look it up in the search.

I usually wake up like 2-3 times each night, so do I still need an alarm?
I'm going to find DEILD (DIELD? Forgot, too lazy to check)

Thanks for all these replies, they are helping alot

yea but those require disrupting precious sleep which is difficult to come by with a very busy work schedule. and plus my dreams i am never first or even third person, it is as if im passively watching a movie so everything seems out of the ordinary jsut i see it as a movie, and i like the concept of WILD better, it makes more logical sense to me than realizing im dreaming, its not really as hard as everyone makes it out to be if you just dont think that its gonna be impossibly difficult, i figure it doesnt hurt to try

      Please listen.
Even the most experienced Lucid Dreamers have trouble with WILDs and they are not that frequent.
So for a novice starting out you would recommend the hardest method?
and you get up at early ours to WILD too. So i don't see the difference.
DEILDS you can flow a dream into another without long or wide awakenings.

      K, just looked up deild,

So its basically, when I wake up in the middle of the night, don't move at all and image myself moving and try to feel everything that you are thing about.
      ^ is that right

And one more question, to me it looks likewhen you do this, its just like POOF ur in a dream... Is that what it actually is like?

i guess i havent really looked in DEILDS, im not trying to argue anything, i can see how WILDs would be more advanced, but it worked for me mainly cause it seems like a more logical method and thought process instead of having the whole dream and notice "o crap thats wierd, i must be dreaming" to going straight from laying there with your eyes closed to knowing your in a dream. we are all here to try to help not argue whether suggestions are too advanced for someone or not.

Its is said to be the easiest method.
You tell yourself to wake up after a dream repeatedly.
(you can do this by telling yourself or setting alarms - eventually you will wake up after REM stages and dreams)
When you do wake up yes, follow the method and remember the dream you were in and let yourself flow back in.
Difference is you then are a lot more aware and tell yourself you are in a dream.
Just use the method and it is a good start.

Okay, I'm understanding it alot more than before.

I used to think that WILD was the easiest because it is the main thing that everyone is talking about here.. But now I see there are easier ones
