Maybe visualising is keeping you awake, different methods work for different people, the tecnique that works for me is lying in a confortable position, then counting to 100 as many times as I need to before I start to notice myself falling asleep, then quickly I turn on my back and lay perfectly still untill I start to feel a numb warm sensation cover my body from my head to my toes, I concentrate on the sensation in my hands and focous on how it feels, but at the same time letting thaughts drift my me and trying not to over think anything.
then I start hearing talking and seeing flashing images, and I fell like im falling, spinning or being pulled upwards. then theres a gap where im on the verge of consinceness with no thaughts in my head, then
find myself in a dream, with just enough awareness to know that I am, then with reality checks by dream becomes vivd and I become fully lucid.
Just try to find your own method, try not to let trying to wild keep you awake, Just let what comes naturaly happen, but find a way to remain aware of it as it does, remember first attempts at wild's can be quite short.
