      Melatonin levels and sleeping positions

I tried taking melatonin because I've heard that helps one become lucid.
The first night I took 6mg and nothing happened. The second night I took 12mg and still nothing happened. Should I keep taking more and more dosages?

Also I sleep on my stomach. Its very difficult for me to fall asleep in any other position. Does this affect one becoming lucid or not?

No! Overdosing on sleeping pills can kill you. Melatonin isn't very strong, so I'm sure the overdose level is near 100mg, but still you should never go over the recommended dosage.

My bottle says 3mg. What are you trying to do with it? Melatonin is a sleep aid. It only helps lucid dreams because you have a REM rebound later in the morning.

      Please don't take more Melatonin,
Maybe it just doesn't have any effect on you.
Trust me overdosing isn't going to make your dreams more vivid.
Try something else, there has got to be something that will work good for you,
      at healthy dosages !!!

yeah. I dunno. I heard you cant really overdose on melatonin. The kind I bought is all natural ingredients. But yeah I prolly wont take more. I've doing a lot of meditation with binaural beats hoping that'll soon work.

I forgot where I heard this, but it said that if you are laying on your stomach or your back, it helps to feel the kind of vibrations that come with WILDing.

The bottle I have actually says to take no more than one three mcg tablet (I think it;s 3 micrograms) per night. THen again, the five foot tall girl who suggested melatonin says she has to take at least 3 for it to affect her any, and I usually take between 3 and six of the tablets to decrease insomnia.

Either way, make sure not to take more than is minimally necessary, and don;t increase the dosage beyond, well, people here tend to say about 3mg, without asking a doctor, and if you actually need it, like for insomnia.

(PS: On the sleep position: I;'ve wanted to know, but there are mixed opinions. SOme say to do what's most comfortable, others suggest particular positions that may help concentration, or blood flow, or whatever.)

Buy some cherries they have melatonin in them and they make you sleep, and i tried this myself and it worked. I hardly ever had a nap early in the afternoon but after eating cherries, 10 or 15 miinutes later i fell right to sleep and i dreamed. In fact for the first time without pills, two days ago i had a full 8 hours sleep after eating cherries that night and i just finished eating cherries just now and its making me sleepy.

I've been taking melatonin off and on since last summer to help me sleep, and I usually don't need more than 3 mg. I'm pretty sure melatonin doesn't have any ill effects. IIRC, you can't really become dependant on it, and it's very safe. It's a hormone your body makes everyday, and the stuff you don't use you just filter out and it comes out the next day in your urine.

Just remember the natural rate of production is 0.3mg or so and taking excessive quantities can effectively shut down the melatonin receptors in the brain. More is not always better. You could be heavily damaging your brain's ability to utilize melatonin in the short-term.

Try a 0.3mg dose at first, then slowly increase it. If you pass 3mg and still have not noticed anything, then you may just be out of luck, as it's apparent heavy doses don't do much for you. Drugs don't work the same for everyone, especially those that occur naturally in the body anyway. I would also take a week or two off before starting again, as it's very likely you've temporarily taken a receptor hit with those doses. It may take even longer.

I took 3 melatonin once and it made me throw up, not saying it was this for sure, but I was really shaky too.

Even 3mgs can be too much for some people. When I use it as a sleep aid, I try to take 1mg or less. You can get it as low as .333mcg, which I think should be enough, especially if you find that you wake up feeling a little "off" taking 3mgs or more.

If I take 3mgs, I have brain fog the next morning, so it might be you need to simply adjust the dosage. My son - the night owl - takes 5mgs. He's also picky about the brand.

You might also consider a time released formula.

As melatonin is a substance that your body manufactures, it's not really considered dangerous or habit forming like sleeping pills - either prescription or otc. However, I don't think it wise to push it over 5mgs unless you ask a doctor.

It's really hard to od on melotonin so I wouldn't worry about it. When I was younger I used to mess around with pills a little. One time I took like 12 3mg pills. Not much really happened. I just got tired.

But in my experience with using them responsibly as a tool for LDs i find it's best just to take one pill. you don't need that much and I think your body will just digest or something.

also when I was younger i took these to help me sleep and if you keep upping the dose like that they stop working at all.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.
