      Thumbs down Done with WILD

      Hey guys!

I've been lucid dreaming all of my life without truly knowing what it was until a few years ago. Recently I have started to try techniques in order to achieve a LD status without needing to rely on DILD. All my life I have also experienced SP, and have always been terrified of it. After reading about WILD I have been contemplating trying it out if I ever had some time away from work; today was the day.

I knew that I would be able to do it because of my past so I decided to put my fear of SP hallucinations aside and I jumped into bed and started to relax. I started counting and made it to about 60 or 70 before seeing visuals and hearing audio. I slowed my breathing even more, relaxed and let my body do what it needed to do. A few moments went by and I felt the infamous shock feelings (which is the best way to describe it) and felt myself flying upwards. I opened my eyes and I was in my room. At this point I saw my dog was still lying with me so I did a quick RC and realized I was in a dream. I jumped out of bed and felt like someone was behind me. I tried to turn to see the figure with no such luck. At this point I got a little nervous so I decided to fly through the roof and upon reaching the roof found it to be solid. (Which is frustrating because in DILD's I have no trouble flying through anything)

The dream started to fade so I rubbed my hands which did not work...spinning had no reaction either. Next thing I knew I was back in my bed w/ my dog. I tried to move but SP was still active. Almost immediately after realizing this my door opened and a man walked into my room and started screaming at me, just inches from my face. I tried screaming, moving, anything I could think of with no avail. I closed my eyes and tried to slip back into a dream but every time I opened my eyes I would have a FA and another terrifying hallucination in front of me.

I understand that some people are able to have enjoyable experiences utilizing the WILD technique, however i do not believe I will ever use it again. Unless someone can give me tips on how to stay calm during the 2 shocks, and also with limiting the unpleasant hallucinations during SP...I don't think I will try it again.

I guess I am spoiled since I have been lucid several times a week since a kid, so my only advice to dreamers who are trying is don't give up. Also as unpleasant as WILD was for me it was definitely an experience. It was fairly indescribable. Keep trying because it is worth going through at least once, and from what it seems a lot of people on here use WILD often without negative consequences.

I really just wanted to vent for a bit, but I would love to hear people's suggestions on overcoming the SP hallucinations. I would like to use WILD considering I achieved Lucidity with it my first attempt. I just need to get past the fear.

Dude, don't give up! I've been trying to WILD for three years and only this morning did I get anywhere! You got extremely lucky.

Did you do it when you first went to bed at night? If so, give it a shot with a WBTB early in the morning.

If any technique creates stress then it's probably not for you. There are other ways to have DILDs that are as effective depending on how you mod them to suit your needs and mind workings. WILD isn't for me either.

I cleaned my place for a few hours after waking up to clear my mind a bit, then just grabbed my dog and jumped in bed. WILD is something I know i can definitely do again if i want to, but I am just saying that I don't believe it to be worth it. Definitely worth it for the experience, but once I slipped out of the dream and into SP the hallucinations began. I wake up from a LD a few times a month and experince terrible hallucinations with SP, so at this point I don't know that I want to intentionally bring it upon myself. I dunno. I wanna get past my fears but somehow i cannot. Hallucinations from SP for me are by far on my list of the most terrifying things a human can experience!

Simply don´t allow these Visual Hallucinations and Physical Sensations to scare you. I know this sounds harder than it is but is how I once fended off an attack by the infamous "old hag". (waking up in SP, being aware but paralized, sensations of suffocating and accompanied by the felt, sometimes seen and/or heard, presence of something/someone malevolent)

I woke up in a state of SP quite frequently in a certain period of my life. I had had about 3 old hag-visits in one week and then when the old hag visited me the 4th time that week I recognised her as being old hag, told myself not to stress, but to relax instead and fear her not. So I did and her Grip on me, as I often experience it as being in a Strong grip, loosened up and I peacefully floated back to sleep.

May sound unpractical and impossible, but all you have to do is NOT be terryfied, relax and drift back to a peacefull state. Just don't allow this to scare you, knowing it is a natural. harmless phenomenon that need not be feared.

I have fear of SP and HypnagogicHalluz but when I try to WILD. I say to me "It´s not dangerous, many people do it without sth. bad happens. And no one said that were dangerous." And of course it is so. I can stay calm during the shocks. You should be happy that the shocks come, bec. its not dangerous and you go in your Wake-Initated-Lucid-Dream

I only hit SP twice in my life, and it was hypnopompic e.g. coming out of sleep. I kept my eyes closed and all I really saw was a herringbone pattern.

If I ever manage to get into SP again, I'm gonna open my eyes and see what's there. They're only hallucinations when you think about it. Hallucinations you have control over.

If the old hag scares you, will her into exploding into a million pieces. Or just will her away if you want to be boring.

Yeah hagging can be pretty scary i've had it happen to me before I even knew what lucid dreaming and sp where it didn't scare me because I just knew it wasn't real you shouldn't give up so easily just remember that the false awakenings and all that scary crap is in your head and suddenly it won't be so scary

Don't give up. I've had multiple things attack me over the years.

Wiggle your toes --> move your foot. This progression always wakes me up. I vibrate my toes + my foot repetitively until I snap out of it. Or, just close your eyes, and ignore everything; and don't be scared. It's not real, after all (Okay, I'm a hypocrite; even after hundreds of SP, I still get scared). Last week, I felt like I was suffocating under the blankets in my bed. I think your subconscious knows how to get to you.
(Btw. I wasn't even under any covers - weird).
