      My First Lucid Dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to thank this forum and website for giving me the skills that eventually led to my first full Lucid dream.

My Lucid dream lasted for about 10 minutes. I wasn't excited, I just observed everything in my dream, how solid the pillars felt, the taste of my fingers, and the joy of changing the color of the women's dresses (hella fun!). I never have nightmares (the last one I had was when I was 5) subconsciously I think I know it is a dream so I just "watch" it like a movie (in RL, movies do not scare me or excite me). I think that this helps me keep emotions out of my dreams.

After I awoke from the LD, I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror and went to the bathroom. When I was done............I closed my eyes and when I opened them I was laying in my bed. A false awakening!!! This series of dreams definitely gave me the thrill needed to keep my interest in the subject.

Before I went to bed I did an affirmation: Tonight I'm going to realize I'm dreaming and remember. I said it about three times and then fell asleep.

I just have one question. How do I get the thing at the bottom of my posts that tells people how many LD's I've had? I want to put: DILD's: 1.

Thanks again everyone for all of your great and helpful advice!

Congratulations ! I remember my first one (only had 5 so far) and it was an unforgetable experience indeed. False awakenings are also impressive. In my second LD I had 4-5 in a row. I think now that you see that LDs are possible more will come soon.

Do lucid dreams really feel that real. Also did you think like you would when you were awake.

I didn't quite think like I would when in real life. For instance I saw my best friend in my dream and I shook him and said, "your dreaming, wake up!" Now, when I woke up I thought, "that was stupid, he was my dream character, he wasn't dreaming he was just a part of my imagination." However, seeing the detail of everything and "feeling" the texture and solidity of objects in the dreamscape were just as real as in waking life. My vision was blurry in the dream just like in real life and I thought, I'm dreaming I should have perfect vision and my vision suddenly became much better. I think that how you act in real life and what you are use to in real life carries over into the dreamscape.

I would equate a normal dream to being like a zombie, you have no control over what you do, you just do. You could walk on water and it would not make you question what was going on (unlike in real life). In my Lucid Dream I was more aware of my surroundings, but still in a "drunken" state. I was aware, but some of my thoughts and actions were not like they would have been in real life. I think, however, that I should have focused more on stabilizing the dream. The only thing that I did was focus on the detail of the dreamscape, I never rubbed my hands together or started spinning. I just observed. It seems however, that when in a lucid dream my priorities are different than they would be in real life. For instance, I had a burning desire to see my ex-girlfriend. It never occured to me that I could do other things more interesting in my lucid dream. I was just sooooo focused on that one goal. I never stopped to just think.

i have been lucid dreaming for 5 years now, i cant do it all the time but i prolly do it bout once a month, i learned how to do it completely on my own cause i always question everything in real life n when i started realizing things didnt make sense in a dream i realized i could conrol the dream, flying and floating is awesome !!!!! its prolly one of the first things i do when i discover i am dreaming, today i realized how my brain works while dreaming, kinda like a life simulating supercomputer, within dreams other people act like how they would in real life even with personalities, like ur brain has known these people for long n now it can actually simulate there actions, sooo wierddd, today i woke up pretty early, after bout 9 hours sleep, i had nuthing to do so went back to sleep, within 10 mins i had one lucid dream, i woke up 30 mins from starting then went bak to sleep, again within another 10 mins another lucid dream, i was very surprised i had done this cause the first time i discovered i could control my dream i did some research on sleeping patterns n it said that dreamin only occurs during r.e.m sleep, but r.e.m sleep occurs approx 30-45 into sleep, and i kno for a fact that i was awake inbetween all the 3 sleep sessions, im wondering wat n e one can say bout this
