I know you guys must be tired of hearing countless people recount their attempted WILDing experiences. But I just had to share...
I think I might have had my first WILD and lucid dream this morning. The only problem is I can't really tell if I was just dreaming about WILDing and LDing or I actually had one. You see, recently I have been trying this new technique, where I just allow myself to doze off like I usually do at night, and attempt to catch myself right before I actually fall asleep and do a WILD. This morning, I woke up, and since it was a weekend, I went back to sleep and as usual, managed to catch myself right before I lost consciousness. Now usually, I just have this period of brief confusion where I hastily try to visualize a scene but end up failing and falling asleep. Today however, was different.
As usual, there's a fancy light show in front of my eyes and a crazy spinning feeling and such, but it was quickly accompanied by this loud blaring noise that sounded like a freight train running past my window. This happened about three times, and oddly enough, I wasn't scared at all. I was in this half asleep stage where I was pretty much like "Wow that's interesting." So I attempt to visualize something, but I can't think of anything solid. So the noises get quiet and the light show stops, and I decide to "attempt" to get out of bed and see if I'm in dreamworld or something. I get up easily, I don't feel sleepy at all, and I stand up next to my bed.
First I try to do a back flip. I don't know why, but it's the first thing that comes to my head. I end up chickening out however, when I see how hard the floor is. Next I try to fly, and it doesn't work and I feel slightly ridiculous jumping up and down. Then it comes to me to do a REALITY check, so I can be sure I'm dreaming. I do the finger one, and fail. I do the nose one, and fail again. I come to the conclusion that I'm not actually dreaming. My cellphone begins to ring, and I trip over some clothes hangers on the ground and make a racket. The only thing I can think of at this point is I'll wake my parents up, so I hastily get back in bed and promptly have another dream.
It isn't until the next awakening that I realize that 1. My cellphone was not even on and 2. There are no clothes hangers on the ground, instead they are neatly stacked up in a corner in my room.
This must mean I was dreaming.
Now if anyone had the patience to read all of that, here are my two questions. Do you think that was actually a WILD or was I just dreaming of a WILD? Secondly, why did my RC's fail!?!?! , and how do I prevent this from happening again?
