      How to meditate?

Ok I want to learn how to meditate?

      Questions:
      What do I think about
How long do I do it?
Will it help me get lucid?

Theres different types of meditation and I think they all can aid LDing in various ways. The tibetan doctrines suggest one pointed meditation for increasing LDs.

the best book I've read on the topic is 'play of consciousness' , u can purchase it at this link:

Check out any meditation that aids in the opening of the Third Eye Chakra, or the Ajna chakra. Apparently a benefit of practicing this kind of meditation is lucid dreaming.

the above links are good, but for my daily meditation, i simply:

tell my family not to bother me for the next 15-20mins and try to keep noise to a minimum.

Find a quiet corner of my house, usualy bedroom on bed.

I know the way to meditate is to sit cross-legged but since i have been having back problems i find that lying on my bed face-up is just as good

i then attempt to clear my mind of anything. I try to let go of fears, concerns, problems with family, school and friends. All of these thoughts attempt to creep in but i continue to keep my mind blank. If this doesnt work i usually picture sitting on a mountain top with slow moving clouds and sun shining.

I know this is a crude way to meditating and doesnt address any spiritual needs and concerns, but i find it extremely relaxing and make my mind clearer afterwards so i can think about lucid dreaming in a better way!

If you are looking for something spiritual then dont take my advise, go to one of the links above and research ti more fully =)

dang, thats too bad. Really, whatever works for you works as a meditation. Meditation comes in so many forms and styles, but if you are serious about it, you can also learn about every last detail and hand position and mantra and so on. . .
Borders or Barnes and Noble sells meditation CDs that work with beta and theta waves to put you in a deeper state. . .

there you will find meditation aids and lucid dream aids...

the only reason you shouldn't lie down when meditating is simply because people tend to fall asleep! by sitting up, you ensure yourself not to fall asleep and to stay consciously aware.

"It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."-Emerson
