In addition to what Jammy suggested, make sure you are getting enough sleep, as it is much easier to become aware in your dreams and remember your dreams if you are well rested.
Since it can take a lot of time and effort to get control of ones dreams or become aware during the dream state, concentrate on and reward yourself for what you are able to do well, such as remembering your dreams, in order to stay positive and keep from getting bummed out by the amount of effort required to accomplish the feat of being aware in your dreams.
