      Placebo

As we have all read here at DV, there are many techniques with resultant or utilised placebo effects.
It is easy to announce a result is generated by a placebo effect,
but how are we sure, and how can we then use it to our advantage in attaining lucidity.

I have read so many threads with "placebo effect" used to explain away the result.
Please help us discuss it and is it possible to specifically use it to advantage?
(or has anyone got info on how it works in our minds)

If you think it's placebo, it won't work. So basically knowing it's placebo will destroy the purpose...

Well if that's the case, how can anyone use a placebo to sustain lucidity since I'm sure you're aware that any pill you're taking in the dream isn't real and is in turn a placebo.

If it's a placebo for LDing it won't last pass twice or few times. LDing is the litmus test for placebos. If it's a pill and you take it without having the intention to LD like in my case I took a vit B pill and got an LD, it happened on 2 occasions one taken earlier and the LD was not so good. Most likely it's not a placebo. I think for something to be a placebo the user has to expect it to work in the first place and see if the results deterorate over time.

LD mask? Both! Placebo and a real way to LD.... I had an LD by expecting the light to work but it was not about the light I made. Then on another ocasion the light 'went off' but the light wasn't even plugged in!
