I concluded I was awake in a dream!

This is very interesting to me. I had a false awakening into a bedroom which was subtlely but noticably different to reality. I did a blocked throat breath test (a bit like holding your nose and trying to breathe but hands-free, ust closing off the windpipe internally) and I could breathe, showing that I was dreaming. I wanted to flood my dream mind with sensory perception to avoid it fading (a DV advice) and I shouted at my laptop "Turn on! Turn on!"

The laptop came to life with a colorful static image, but I was standing in the corner (which is impossible in real life because of the angled roof of that corner) and the laptop was on the bed so I couldn't see it properly. But this is where things got weird from an LD perspective. I couldn't really do what I wanted and I did another reality check to be sure, but this time, the blocked throat showed I was awake! I was confused and really didn't know what to think. I tried to float by lifting up my legs but crashed to the floor. I concluded, falsely, that I wasn't dreaming after all, and went about my business! I even felt embarrassed and hoped my wife hadn't heard me doing stupid slapstick reality tests in the corner of the bedroom.

What is interesting to me is here is the final proof to me that dreaming and waking life is INDISTINGUISHABLE on a perceived reality level - because I concluded, rationally, that I was awake while I was in fact dreaming.

It was weird waking up and recalling that dream!

Have any of you experienced this false reality check result?

In my experience FAs are dreams that are near waking up but still stuck in dream state for a while. So when the sleeping mind is near waking state it has access to waking memory like the way your room looks and geographical locations are accurate. I've some LDs during FAs and they are all geographically accurate like the position of the opposite building when I was flying to it. For normal dreams the spatial form is usually distorted like your room may be bigger or have features that are fabricated because there is very little access to waking memory in normal dreams.

Ya, I have failed reality checks all the time but I wake up when I do another one usually. It's not that it's indistinguishable but that your dream tries to make everything so realistic that alot of stuff that is possible in a dream can fail (walking through walls, putting your hand through your finger, etc.) due to a mental barrier on occasion. Plus alot of your wakeful brain is inhibited during REM which can make even obvious signs hard to notice.
This entire reality is SELF REFLECTION. You reflect your essence and project it onto the universe.
