      Inconsistancy in dreams

Just some background info: Around a year ago i tried lucid dreaming for a month or two but only got one dream so i sorta faded away from it for awhile

The problem i have is my dreams aren't consistant. i keep hearing people say "everytime you see a clock" or "everytime this happens, do this". the problem is, my dreams are extreamly freakin random. one night i dreamt i was being chased by a man with a ham. what do you guys think i should do instead of the normal routines? also, i have a slight fear of becoming lucid in the middle of a nightmare and getting scared to shit, even if i do know it's not real (sort of like horror movies). should i just learn to deal with this or is there some way to get around this?
      Thanks.

      2 lucid dreams! whoohoo!

record more dreams in your journal and you will find a pattern.

You have a fear of becoming lucid in a nightmare? Um, why? If you are in a dream which you really don't like, and you know it is a dream, then just change it foo' Use the oppertunity to kick some ass, or if you are too scared, wake yourself up. [/img]

      huh?

you can voluntarily wake up from a lucid dream? wonder how that works, i guess you could use a verbal command. haha "wake the **** up!"

If you know your are dreaming it is very easy to wake up. Just strain your eyes to open, even when you think they are already open, and they'll pop open in real life.

I did the same thing- after a few lucid dreams I kind of faded out of being interested in dreams, stopped my dream journal, lost a lot of dream recall... but I'm back! Let's hope we don't fade again, huh?

Being chased by a man with a ham (hahaha) contains a common dreamsign, which is being chased. There's real common ones like that all the time. I wonder if there's a list of common ones somewhere... flying, being chased, monsters, being in a video game... there are lists that break them down to big categories like impossible actions, characters, or places, but when you're dreaming they don't seem impossible at all. Are there any lists that are more specific? If not, we should make our own...
No matter where you are, everyone is connected.

I have the same problem my dreams are all over the place usually the only way I manage is to look out for weirdness in everyday life then when you do something in a dream you'll think hang on this is really wired which is usually enough to induce enough lucidity to realise you are infact dreaming.

You're gonna hate me for saying it, but a dream journal is not necessary and can be restrictive. If you record your dreams, they will gain a pattern only because yoy believe you see a pattern. Well its useful for starting to LD, but then you lose the originality of the LD slowly the more you record and change to what is logical. Its more interesting to see how you are thinking and remember the dream in memory. Recording it, I believe could hurt the process that makes it random.

But oh well, what do I know. I just like to throw things out there.
