      stress-induced insomnia

hey, ive been unable to sleep for a couple of weeks now, and it's obviously had a BIG impact on my lucid dreaming. does anyone know any sort of drug/method/excercise to combat insomnia? preferably something that doesent leave too big a dent in my recall? all help appreciated. thanks!
I need my sleep. I need about eight hours a day, and about ten at night.

Is Melatonin illegal over in GB? i heard Germany outlawed melatonin for whatever reasons. if you can get it, its used as treatment for combating insomnia. Its an over the counter endogenous natural hormone synthesized right in our 'mystical' pineal gland from a neurotransmitter called serotonin. you can find it in pharmacies and supplement stores for 7 US dollars for 60 - 3mg tablets. a tablet at nighttime or however much u want can reset a bodies biological clock. no overdose on melatonin has ever been documented, or probably even exists! it is by far the healthiest way to regulate your sleep schedule.

It all depends on the reasons for your insomnia. Care to expand a little?

to be honest, i have no idea for it's reason. i just cannot sleep. whenever i start to "drift off" my mind revises everything i've done that day OVER and OVER AGAIN.

What's your diet like? What do you do in the hour or so before bed? What's your exercise like? These can all be contributing factors...

k i have no idea if this will work at all, but i read somewhere on here a good way to get yourself tired is a thing called reverse blinking. so you lie with your eyes closed and every 5 seconds or so you quickly open your eyes for the slightest second, just enough to get a glimpse and then shut them again. so pretty much an opposite blink. anyway keep doing this until your eyelids start to get heavy. i think that's the way you do it, search the site for reverse blinking and you'll find it. also if your into it there are those binaural beats things. there are sleep ones. i dont know much about them so i'm a bit hesitant but hey do some research and give it a go mayb? have you been to the doctor?

This used to happen to me a lot. It's almost like your mind is spinning in circles, inner dialogue in an infinite loop.
There are periods when this happens almost every night, but then the periods of 'silent mind' return.

I found a very effective solution, it might work for you too: get up from bed and write down everything in your head. You could just write it down on any piece of paper or have a special 'junk' journal for this purpose.

EDIT: Normal breathing and relaxing techniques didn't seem to work in my case, those thoughts always found their way back. I guess this process of writing it down is symbolic of throwing the garbage out.

it sounds more like a lifestyle issue.

how is your dream recall. when was the last time you were able to ducument your dreams. becuase your dreams will tell you EVERYTHING about yourself.
analyses some of your most recent dream journals. even if they are a while back

analyse every single action and decision you make. in dreams every action has a reason behind it.

in one of my recent dreams i was a security guard and i arrested a black teenager for shoplifting.
why was he black? maybe i am a bit racist.

maybe you are finding life dull? i thats the case then try backpacking in africa. i did that and it has completely changed my outlook on life. (and its mega cheap)

but dont take what i have said too literaly, everyone is different. good luck

my dream recall is fine. i regularly do anaerobic excercise (crunches, pushups pullups etc) but my life has become kinda "hum-drum" so maybe a little change in lifestyle could help.
