      Comfort level does effect lucidness!

I have posted a similar topic before but last night confirmed what I already believed. I slept on a pull out sofa bed last night (not very comfortable at all) and had 2 seperate ludid DILDs. This was my first lucid in quite a long time so I am convinced now that your level of comfort is directly linked to getting lucid. Any thoughts?

People actually sleep on their sofas with the belief that sleeping in an unusual environment is enough to instinctively keep the mind more awake and aware than usual, which leads you to become lucid more easily. I have no idea where this hypothesis is from, but in the context of sleeping with couches that's basically the main idea behind why most people do it.

My bed at home and the bed in my dorm are ridiculously comfortable and hard as a rock, respectively. I remember about 10 months ago I was wondering if changing the comfort level would change the number of lucids I had, but it was really impossible to tell because so many other factors changed when I moved back on campus.

It's possible comfort plays a role, but I think it's probably mostly attributable to other things. How deeply you sleep in a comfy bed may play a part, but I think in the big picture it's really a minor player.

yep - i read in a book by robert bruce (on astral projection) that causing a slight discomfort is effective in keeping a sort of "anchor" which keeps your mind awake. i once tried to apply this by wearing a head band to bed, but it was so distracting i couldn't get to sleep with it on.

so.... i'd recommend some way to cause a little discomfort (aside from where you are sleeping), although i haven't come up with a good idea on how to do this. ha!

      ideas?

--Shift, do you think this would have a more profound effect if not intended to use for attaining a DILD but for keeping you slightly awake for a WILD or to be a little more aware of waking for a DEILD?
