Thread: A question about your consciousness when you LD...

When you Lucid Dream... are you so conscious in that it is amost as if you are actually awake... and you are conscious in this sense that you realise you are dreaming.. and that you can control your actions, and what you want to happen next in the dream?

I'm sure I've read that it's all true... but since I've never had a dream anything like Lucid then I find it real hard to comprehend the possibility of it. Makes it all the more exhilarating, just thinking about the experience . Goddamn I want one so bad.

Yes for all your questions, but as for what you want to happen in the next dream...im going for a maybe on that one. most likely not, but there are ways that i can imagine to \"influence\" you're next dream.

just be persistant and never give up! so many people give up. just hang in there. if you want i can personally help you out. answer any questions you have, give you tips and advice in how to induce lucid dreams, etc. I've had quite a lot of lucid dreams, and i've been here for over a year so i know a lot. if you're interested either reply here or PM me

Hey thanks for the help... I just find it so hard to believe that it's possible to induce dreams that are so life-like and real.

That is sometimes the biggest obstacle in a person who has just been introduced to lucid dreaming. Denial. Disbelief.
Well there are almost 2500 members on this site alone and a good number of them can tell you this is in fact true. You can become fully conciuos in your dreams!!

He didn't say "happen in the next dream", but rather "happen next in the dream". And the answer to that is definitely "yes".

I believe it possible, my only problem would be dream recall. I can usually retain an aweful lot. For example last night, I didn't bother with an alarm clock (as there are others in my hourse who I don't want to wake up also) and I didn't drink lots of water (becuase odds are I'd wake up at the wrong time and plus its far more unpleasent) so I just slept, and yet I can remember 3 separate dreams. I reckon the actual analytical part, the bit where you go "hey, I'm dreaming" is quite easy for me. I've always been too logical for my own good, its dream signs are aswell.

Admitedly I haven't been at this very long, so I'll keep at it. Just frustrating, sometimes I wake up from a really weird dream and go "damn, so that was so clear I was dreaming, how often do I fight arabs with curvy swords?! And kick myself for not realising. But then it all seems to normal when asleep....

The realism is lucid dreams in incredible, if you want it to be. Everything we percieve in waking life is really just nerve signals, sent by our various senses. When dreaming, our brain can emulate those signals almost perfectly, because of the huge databank of information it has stored. If you want, lucid dreams can seem almost more real than the waking world! The thing that makes it really cool is that, with lots of practice, you can control almost anything you want, including what happens next.

Don't be discouraged if you're having a hard time getting lucid. It took me more than two months to get a lucid dream that lasted more than 10 seconds. Some get lucky fast, and others take much longer. One thing that helps is to figure out how you learn best (visual? auditory? etc.) and find methods for LD'ing that are well-suited to your learning techniques.

There are two types of lucids I understand. Normal ones like I have and then amazing concious ones...
